Military Intelligence

In our nearest market town there is a large school. It has an Army Cadet Corp. Should one happen to go past the end of the lane leading up to the Cadet premises, on the day that the council are doing their refuse collection in that area, on might just catch sight of a green wheelie bin. This one is different though. It has been daubed all over with the standard multi hued blotches of camouflage.

It just makes you think!

"Military" and "Intelligence" are words that do not fit well together and should never appear in the same sentence with any positive notions.

They appear in today's Daily Telegraph crossword:

Clue: Army's bright boys making news. ( 12 letters )

Answer: ?

When I did my national service I learnt how pathetic and childish some of the brass could be. This worked it's way down right to corporal level.

I was told one day by the Sergent to clean out the chemical room, in the photographic section where I worked. I did what I thought was a damned good job, even remembering to move all the bottles and jars to dust the shelves. His nibs cam in to look after I had finished. He put his hands on his head and pulled at his hair in anguish. I would swear that he had real tears in his eyes. "Brummie" he wailed, "what about the shelves, just look how untidy they are". I told him that I had moved everything and dusted. He replied that the whole lot were untidy because the bottles were higgldy piggledy. It seems after he calmed down that I should have put them back on the shelves, starting with the tallest on the left and the shortest on the right. The mind boggles at the mentality of the man.

Hehe... I was looking through my GB road atlas yesterday, and I was quite surprised to see marked on the map "secret bunker".

There is one near stansted airport, it used to make us laugh when we went past the road signs " to the secret bunker " mind you they were only in Engish ;) ;)

Then you could have yelled "Right Dress!", they would have lined up for you.

Seriously though, it really is pathetic isn't it, to think that our defence is in the hands of such useless morons.

It's been the same throughout history. If megalomania didn't exist, the military (intelligent or otherwise) would not be needed and the world would be a much better and more peaceful place.

Think how many of the despotic leaders fit into this definition for megalomania:

A psychopathological condition characterized by delusional fantasies of wealth, power, or omnipotence.

An obsession with grandiose or extravagant things or actions

a delusional mental disorder that is marked by infantile feelings of personal omnipotence and grandeur

For a definition of a despot:

A ruler with absolute power.

A person who wields power oppressively; a tyrant; a cruel and oppressive dictator

Any people come to mind?????

It has always been so. The thinking being that mindless obedience to orders is an essential requirement for soldiers in battle.

Yes, Expertec, Saddam fits the bill.
