However things started to get slightly interesting when they went to the mks - metre-kilogram-second system. Here they started to rename some of the classic units of measurements. Then they went SI - Systeme-Internationale (French name) and really got clever. I, at this point, put my brain on hold thinking that at my then age this dog wasn't going to learn new tricks.Manage to coast my way into retirement without too much difficulty. Managed to do some specialised work on mathematics and diffusion especially in the Printed circuit field where there was a problem and it turned out to be due to the impossibility of rinsing out chemistry from minute holes in multilayer boards form preceding stages in an Immersion gold process. Even the BSI were confused. I am sure most of the "real" world still uses sensible units ( cgs and inch/pound/sec) and leaves the esoteric stuff to acedemia.We should never have abandoned Whitworth!! For her to die in such an involuted way was proof that the left hand did not correspond with the right hand - This thread may make amends.You know she was the Acme of perfection. It was only her British Association that led to her ending up in the laundry as a washer.She had a very sad experience there. A mentally deranged inmate from a nearby institution escaped and found his way into the laundry. He had his way with poor Emily and then rushed out without being caught.
