Belatucadrus
Catgate's entirely too close to the truth for it to be funny, our government loves to spend our cash on wonderful and eclectic research projects such as The £225,000 slipper safety project a scheme advising the elderly on how to wear slippers. Note that according to the government anybody over 55 is now elderly and presumably too bewildered to manage slip on footwear without their benign and enlightened guidance.
deuces wild
I thought this thread was a tribute to Nel. Why the need to politicize it and take it off topic??
nellie2
he he... never mind, it's all yesterdays news tomorrow anyway. :P But thankyou.
Belatucadrus
The tribute to Nellie2 is implicit and heartfelt, the political comments are due to the inherent necessity for coherent action by government to deal with the problem, for example the creation of an equivalent body to your FTC. Some of us however remain to be convinced that they will execute such common sense steps in a timely and efficient manner. So we are expressing an opinion on a subject with a significant political component in a cogent and civilised manner and don't see it as being off topic. The link was to illustrate past examples of less than successful or sensible government enterprises.

spikeychris
My previous post regarding this was said in jest, however I just want to clarify that I think Nel has achived something that WF should be soooo proud of.
Belatucadrus
While the process may be akin to getting water to flow uphill, Nellie2s pleas may have registered Click here Unfortunately Andrew Miller MP omits to mention which expert audience he was addressing, or when it happened, so what they actually intend to do or what their schedule is would appear to be a bit woolly but what the hell he's only had two years and he is an MP. :D

catgate
Oh do not worry, something will be done. After dithering for just long enough the minister in charge of the Department for Sleight of Hand,Smoke and Mirrors will put out an announcement that he has commissioned an enquiry into the matter of fraud and deception, to be undertaken by the consultant outfit that has "given the most donations to the cause",

catgate
However, the Lords' recommendations were largely dismissed by the Government"Although the number and sophistication of security threats has risen over recent years the Government believes that this has to be viewed in the context of the dramatic increase in internet usage," the Government's response stated."As such, we would refute the suggestion that the public has lost confidence in the internet and that lawlessness is rife."This is a much used argument by Cyclops and his gang. They recently said of street crime that there was no problem, because although the numbers of street crimes had gone up there were more people in the country. They will probably use it again before long and claim that there is no problem with Westminster expense fiddles and general dishonesty and corruption because "although , yes, the number and cost of these events has dramatically increased, it is perfectly OK because there are now more people doing it".edit:- I have just seen this...says it all.http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5gkn_t9...pMmMpxZON7YgKOA
