surprise surprise , the water board have finished , and are now working 2 streets over , and yet another house has been turned over , in the next street opposite the Islamic school ....

The press have all gone , but there still is a police guard front and back ....

burglaries will be down this month I guess ..... nice having a 24 hour police presence .......

the press have all legged it

Mate of mine , whose also a Pakistani , said that if ever his mosque condoned terrorism (which it would never , and if it did know of anyone they would supply the names to the police ), their local mullahs would be first in the que , as to lead from the front ....So its all a crock , there is some scepticism though , considering the last metropolitan farce ....

"first step to martyrdom" - death is martyrdom achieved.

It's a great pity that they will not realise they have been conned by it all, and are not able to come back and put the rest of the religious "zealots" right on the facts.

Anyone know what was in the bottles? Was it intended to be an incendiary bomb or more?

I think the chemists amongst us will know pretty well what the liquids were but I don't think it is appropriate to state the details on here. It's unlikely that these materials are the conventional nitro- based explosives (TNT, nitroglycerine, ammonium nitrate etc.)

The components for these "new" explosives can be bought quite easily from a supermarket/pharmacy/hardware store. The explosive material is very unstable and can explode without warning (which possibly occurred on the 7/7 bus bomb in London where the explosives in the devices were pre-made and carried from Luton to London in a rucksack on the railway) so, the material is carried on board as two separate, relatively harmless liquids, mixed and after a short time the explosive compound is produced.

The explosive would be classed as a "high explosive" with a large blast potential. Any incendiary effects would be incidental. The point of the explosion is to rupture the skin of the aircraft but, for this to be catastrophic, it must take place at certain points where either the structure is vulnerable to damage (such as where the wings are attached) or where the control systems are located.

I think and hope we all know it's just a minority -

How pathetic...............will it take another major terrorist attack to show that the present investigations, arrests and precautions are warranted.

How many more need to needlessly die before some of you folks understand the threat to you, your family and your neighbors?

I find this a bit of a puzzling comment. Does it mean something?

Anyway, in my case it turns out that the suggested 4 hours (at the airport) was because this weekend is the start of the major summer holiday season in Japan. No additional security measures (except for US airliners).

Now THAT made me laugh.

Funnily enough the water board have been in my manor for the last 3 months , and I couldn't understand what was taking them so long , considering they started so early and worked so late , even on Sundays , with nice clean uniforms .....! Always say ' ello ' ello to me on my way to work ...! arf ...should have sussed ...!

chatting to one of them about my lead pipes last month ,he did seem a bit vague , he was from Swansea , I overheard the accent , which is why I went over for a chat ..... seems funny now ..!

bet they are all gone tomorrow ........

Did a good job on my water pressure though , my power shower now hurts on full whack .........

 ... great wee anecdote... :D

Perhaps we've become used to the threats, after all WW2 saw daily bombing raids over our countryside, more recently the IRA were active, or perhaps we're concerned that a mistake has been made such as the killing of J C Menendez or even the Forest Gate fiasco.

Whichever, we do realise the threats to us but we're not going to bow down and the country grind to a halt because of them.

another house opposite the Islamic school 2 streets up from me got turned over on friday , dunno about anymore .......

Incidentally it just used to be a drop in centre for Koran reading , people just used to turn up in jeans an stuff for the odd prayer , now its an utter pyjamaised beard fest , with so little room inside they are now praying on the curb outside at key times .....

This incident seems to have been "good" publicity , I find that somewhat more worring that the actual arrests in my street ..!

Two of the men arrested in Britain on suspicion of being involved in the plot were converts to Islam. Ibrahim Savant, from Walthamstow, east London, changed his name from Oliver when he converted, according to neighbours.

The 25-year-old student, whose Muslim wife is reportedly pregnant, was arrested at his family home in ############### Walthamstow.

The charges against him indicate authorities believe his role in the plot began sometime after Jan. 1, 2006.

Bank of England froze assets Aug. 11, 2006.
