andsome
This is important read, save St George save England. After many cities not wanting to offend other cultures by putting up Xmas lights......After hearing that the Birmingham council changed its opinion and let a Muslim woman have her picture on her driver's license with her face covered......After hearing of a Primary School in Birmingham where a boy was told that for PE they could wear Football League shirts (Aston Villa, Birmingham, West Brom etc) but NOT an England shirt as it could offend others! This prompted the editorial below written by a UK citizen & published in a British tabloid newspaper.IMMIGRANTS.NOT BRITON’S MUST ADAPT.Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on London, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Brits. However, the dust from the attacks has barely settled and the politically correct" crowd begin complaining about the possibility that our patriotism is offending others.I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Britain. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of London being a multicultural centre for community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Britons, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed overCenturies of wars, struggles, trials and victories fought by the untold masses of men and Women who laid down any one of the millions of men and women who have sought freedom. We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language! "In God We Trust" is our National Motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, politicalslogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture. If St. George's cross offends you, or you don't like “A Fair Go", then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our National Motto, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great British freedom, "THE RIGHT TO LEAVE". If you aren't happy here then f#@* off! We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted. Pretty easy really, when you think about it.I figure if we all keep passing this to our friends (and enemies) it will also, sooner or later get back to the complainers, lets all try, please. No matter how many times you receive it... please forward it to all you know. AlanHo
I received this in an Email a few weeks ago and was tempted to post it here myself because it echoes my sentiments - however it was not appropriate at the time because of an ongoing media frenzy about racialism by the usual PC liberal brigade.A friend recently broke his leg and was plastered to the thigh. His young son painted a St George red cross on the plaster. The result - being harranged when being wheelchaired in the shopping centre by an offended PC brigader. What are we coming to? -pops-
Let it not be forgotten that the Red Cross organisation represents Help, Peace and Goodwill throughout the world.Their characteristic symbol is most likely based on the Cross of St George. Thos
Whilst I agree with the sentiments in the letter, I would disagree strongly with the proposal, if meant seriousy and literally, that the slogan "In God We Trust" be plastered around to brainwash youngsters. In some ways I envy the American citizens' genuine love of their country and wish we could foster a similar national pride though it should be tempered with an understanding that other cultures and beliefs are also important. Their pride seems to extend to everyone, even though the USA is a relatively new immigrant country and the many citizens have close roots with their home countries.Thos. Sir T Fireball
I think the message is targetting the wrong people. I have never heard an immigrant complain about our flag being flown or kids wearing national footbal strips, only middle class, British born do gooders.I'd rather welcome a few more immigrants into my country and boot out the home-grown 'antis'. Besty
The way I look at it is if you come to our country you have no right to demand that families that have been living here for hundreds of years should have to change their ways I mean I would not go to their country and demand that they do not fly their national flag because it does not show 'my' part in the country. People just need to chill out and realise that not everything that is said or done is to offend them.
Lamb Chop
Urrh - what country is that then? Sir T ;) We have far too many immigrants looking for a good home where they can whinge and whine and change everything to exactly what they supposedly escaped from here in Oz. They bring their own fashions with them too.Lots in the UK too looking to change things too and a few million Brits eager to speed them on their way B) So roll up and take a few hundred thousand - be our guest :D I did hear that the Flag of St George has or is about to banned as it offends the greatest group in the world and if you dont take it down - bombs will explode - oops bit late already exploded. We also have far too many PC as in politcally correct social engineers who dont want to go but will be helped onto a plane when you name the destination. As for that chain Email - keep it going - "the battle is not yet lost but the citizens must awaken to the fact that political correctness is communism in a new set of clothes"Bill Lind ( American) - essay on PCBlimey McCarthy must be spinning in his grave. For the record;-Bacon off the menu at Hungry Jacks (Burger King)Ham sandwiches off menu In 2 sydney CouncilsChristmas no longer to be called Christmas but Festive SeasonLocal swimming pools - Muslim women only nightsSydney - Muslims demand their own beachOur PM appoints a Muslim Council of Advisors - Head and many others say Hezbollah is not a terrorist organisation and the PM must withdraw his reference to them as terroristsAbove snippets from local News sites this last fortnight. Yet we allow the building of mosques here. I would have no objection to this, but there should be equal rights all round. Not that I belong to a religion in any case, It's just a matter of principle. korgg
I like it ! It should work in other countries too, with some small adaptations. But I agree. If someone chose to live there, he definetly knew what habits were in that country. I could only wish that the political class be more straight about this. Sir T Fireball
I agree we have a problem. I just don't agree with where that problem lies. In my experience, it isn't Mr & Mrs Patel or the Husseins down the road that take offence in our flag. It is the 'happy clappy' bunch in the Town Halls who think they know what our foreign visitors/immigrants would like. Simply another case of those in power doing what they think is best for us. As for comparing us with Australia, pleeeeeease, gimme a break. Australia is one of them iffy wine producing places similar to California and France. Wine growing is clearly hazardous to a countrys/regions mental health. :P

Mr & Mrs Patel being Indian and most likely Hindu religion are not a problem and fit in and are usually gainfully employed, middle class too. No the problem is definitely Islam and its more radical fundamentalists - but that is not the only problem - as to my mind the biggest one is that 99.9% of other Muslims will not under any circumstances report what are clearly terrorist type activites to the authorities. Besty
I most definately do not agree that Islam is the problem. Islam is an extremely peaceful religion if you took the time to look and the vast majority of muslims reflect this. It is a very small number of extremists that are the problem. Again the vast majority of muslim preachers condone terrorism. Look into your facts before you speak.
