These people must be found. The are carrying this work load by them selves, day in day out, all winter long. At their age they need rest and relaxation for part of the winter, and so once these eight people have been found replacement/stand-in volunteers will be needed. In The New Britain this sort of thing should not be tolerated.

So, AN expert said they do not work. SO WHAT, hundreds of others say that they do work. I don't think that even this government would waste millions on a vaccination that had been proved not to work. There are dozens and dozens of cases in every field where so called experts go against the flow. Take the US for instance, there are still so called experts there who deny that the fact that Americans use more of the world resources per head of population than any other country has anything to do with global warming.

I haven't read the report, but I believe the flu vaccine is always behind the bugs, as they can't make a vaccine until they have the flu strain, as they mutate nearly every year the vaccine is always out of date. You should have your own immunity against the old strains anyhow, unless you take antibiotics. Pops will put me right .

Regarding whether flu vaccine works or not, well, yes it does. The real question is does it work any better than a placebo? In all clinical trials of drugs and vaccines there are control groups who are given an inactive "sugar pill" or an inert injection. EVERY time in EVERY trial there are people with whom the placebo is as effective (or even better) than the material under test. It can often be shown as well that with the less pleasant treatments (injections, suppositories, even surgery) the placebo has an even better activity.

Positive reactions to a placebo are not anything you can control so, if you have your flu jab, it is most likely that it will work but you can never make a 100% effective claim.

One of the reasons that I, and many of my former colleagues, avoid "injections", where ever possible, is because although the viri, used to make the injected material, are dead they still carry toxins within their "corpses".

These have the potential for causing lots of trouble.

Like most things in the mass medication field the chief beneficieries are the manufacturing companies, who just happen to be well represented on the clinical advisory panels, and the politicians who are looking after us so well that they should be re-elected.

Vaccines have reduced or eliminated many of the scourges which affected populations and though, one study has doubted the flu jab's efficacy, dozens have supported the programme.

All I know is that years ago I had flu and it really wasn't funny. For the past 20 years I have turned up, sleeve rolled up, at my GP's surgery every autumn, had the jab and never suffered like that with flu again. Perhaps it is coincidence but why risk not having it?

Continuing Thos' theme, I have no fear of dying (having been on the doorstep and part way over the threshold of death's door more than once) but the one and only time I had flu it was a time I actually wanted to die. I felt more depressed, debilitated and ill than ever before or since. If I hadn't been so helpless with the illness I'm sure I would have taken steps to hasten my departure to the next world.

Flu ain't funny - it's an awful lot more than a heavy cold, which most people seem to think it is.

Probably 90% of people who claim to have the flus at any one time, only have a bad cold. There is a world of difference.
