Our own pub at last

For the virtual pub to remain viable - like in real life - it need visitors and if you look back over the last few pages you will see how few we get.

Mind you that is becoming the norm for the forum - apart from a flurry of new members posting problems from time to time - we are now down to only about 8 regular participants and most of those are what DW would call coffin dodgers.

I fully intend to dodge my coffin for as long as possible.

I had also realised that many members from the past had disappeared but wondered if the apparent improvement of the reliability of XP and the "poor" uptake of Vista (plus the number of people switching to Linux) had some bearing on this. After all there is a limit to the number of smilies a person can take.

A pirate came into the bar yesterday. Our barman said, 'Hey, I haven't seen you in a while. What happened? You look terrible.'

'What do you mean?' replies the pirate. 'I feel fine.'

The barman inquired, 'What about the wooden leg? You didn't have that before.'

The pirate responded, 'Well, we were in a battle, and I got hit with a cannon ball. But I'm fine now.'

The barman said, 'Well, OK, but what about that hook? What happened to your hand?'

The pirate replied, 'We were in another battle. I boarded a ship and got into a sword fight. My hand was cut off. I got fitted with a hook. I'm fine, really.'

The bartender probed further, 'What about that eye patch?'

The pirate explains, 'Oh, one day we were at sea, and a flock of birds flew over. I looked up, and one of them crapped in my eye.'

'You're kidding,' replied the bartender. 'You lost an eye just from bird crap?'

'It was my first day with the hook.'............................. :vibrate:

An Australian came into the bar and kept looking at his watch - over and over again.

A young lady (I presume she was indeed a lady) sitting nearby noticed this and asked, 'Is your date running late?'

'No,' he replied, 'I have this state-of-the-art watch. I was just testing it.'

The intrigued woman said, 'A state-of-the-art watch? What's so special about it?'

The Aussie explained, 'It uses alpha waves to talk to me telepathically.'

The lady says, 'What's it telling you now?'

'Well, it says you're not wearing any knickers.'

The woman giggled and replied, 'Well it must be broken because I am wearing panties!''

The Aussie smirked, tapped his watch and said.....'Bloody things running about an hour fast, can I buy you a drink?........................

There was a chap in the pub yesterday and he suddenly realized he desperately needed to fart. The music was really, really loud, so he timed his farts with the beat.

After a couple of songs, he started to feel better. He finished his pint and noticed that everybody was staring at him .

He then suddenly remembered that he was listening to his iPod.

It would have served him right if there had been lumps in it.

  • 2 weeks later...

The village jeweler came into the bar and told me that he had watched as a huge truck pulled up in front of his store. The back came down and an elephant walked out. It broke one of the windows with its tusk and then, using its trunk like a vacuum cleaner sucked up all of the jewelry.

The elephant then got back in the truck and it disappeared out of sight.

He said that when he finally regained his senses he called the police. The detectives came and he told them his story.

"Could you describe the elephant?" the cop asked.

"An elephant is an elephant," he replied. "You've seen one you've seen them all. What do you mean 'describe' him?"

"Well," said the policeman, "there are two types of elephants, African and Indian. The Indian elephant has smaller ears and is not as large as the African elephant."

"I can't help you out," replied the frustrated jeweler, "he had a stocking pulled over his head."
