Correct Keith. Up until the latest round where TT admit that the latest delay is down to them. Was told that I would get a go live date last week. This year perhaps?

What did they admit to, Doug?. I've been "off", on my Linux set up through Onetel (akaT/t) since 22nd Dec. Their specially set up 0800 progress report line is still saying that "some users may be experiencing browsing issues"

(note ...issues..not problems).

I can sometimes get clunky connections on this old W98 machine via a modem, but Linux, through a router, does not give any joy.

Surely Doug has given us the distinct impression that it is BT who have caused all this trouble.

You could well be right andsome but as Talk Talk is Doug's ISP they should be prodding someone at BT to sort the problem out as in the meantime he is stuck on dial-up :(

It's when things go wrong that you value being with an ISP with good customer service and I'm afraid to say that Talk Talk has one of the worst records.

Go back to BT Doug. There are more people having problems and trying to get away from TT than justifies the savings, as I'm sure you will have found out by now.

I was going to say that

Great mind's think alike Curly. :D

On the two occasions, over the last 10 days, when I have spoken to human beings at Onetel (rather than listening to disembodied voices) they have told me BT were working on the problem.

Granted, I could have misunderstood what they said, because they seemed to be situated in Bangalore, or somewhere, and were apparently reading (badly) from a script.

Why any company should display such total contempt for its customers is a mystery. On something as "technical" as computer support one would have at least expected a technical support assistant to speak our language in an understandable manner. It was bad enough when they used to use a call centre in the Outer Hebrides or Harris and Tweed or wherever.

I agree.

When I was with AOL they had an Indian call centre and the support was utterly useless.

I chose Zen as not only do they have good customer service with technically minded people but they use a UK call centre so you can actually understand what they are saying and vice versa!

I would have expected Zen to have a call centre staffed by Bhuddists! The atmosphere would have been Karma.

With most company's today, it unfortunately boils down to the BOTTOM line. Profit is the only thing that comes into the equation. As long as they can get away with it, then customer service is LAST on the list, if indeed it is on the list at all.:angry:

Shouldn't there be an 'e' on then end of andsom, andsome.

There is an "e" but it has been truncated by the exceedingly long log-name. This is an example of why I started the campaign for short log-in names.

I thought that may have been the case Alan when I got my eye on the ... at the end of andsom. I'll join your campaign for shorter sign-in names. Gph.

I now have a name that is fully descriptive and also the forum allows it to be spelt correctly. :D

I'm thinking of adding Lord in front of mine, has quite a ring to it :D

Older members will no doubt remember a Lord Lucan on here some time ago.

This is now way off topic.

Story

"Free" broadband deals have resulted in a downturn in customer satisfaction levels, a report has said.
:(

If cable is available in an area then I can honestly say that NTL are perfectly satisfactory these days. Their customer service left a lot to be desired at one time, but is greatly improved now.
