GREEN WING

We haven't talked about TV programmes for a while so I thought I would say that, as is normal, my wife and I settled down at about 4 pm, opened a bottle of Corbieres and watched the recording of Green Wing from last night's TV. It was absolutely superb. I laughed and laughed and as it was the final winding up feature length episode, I feel so sorry that there is no more to come.

Marvellous series, in my humble opinion.

Thos. Still laughing.

Green Wing was one of the best things on TV for a long time.

Being a family of medics (apart from me), it was particularly funny as all of the people in the programme could be identified with people that the missus, my sons and daughter-in-law had worked with. I could recognise a lot of them as well.

Isn't this the matinee performance? I look forward to it, but with a bottle of Chablis or if I'm feeling really flush, it will be Verve Cliquo (orange label if anyone wants to set one up!).

If you think that's funny Thos you should visit the Borders General Hospital. Green Wing has nothing on that.

Do you mean Veuve Clicquot by any chance?

Anyway, we don't have much interesting TV here, but I just finished watching Ricky Gervais' Extras (on DVD) - what a hoot! :D

I though "Extras" was a good series too, though I think the freshness has worn off a bit now.

As far as the boozing in the afternoon is concerned, we don't keep drinking all evening but we open a bottle of red wine most afternoons and enjoy it whilst watching something or other recorded on the Sky+ box. Sometimes I save a glass to have with dinner, but usually that is the limit of our moderate consumption. On occasions we have Gin & Tonics instead of wine. We don't stretch to Champagne except on very special occasions.

I'll drink a glass of fizz if given one, but MUCH prefer still wine. Regarding the programme that you are talking about, I confess that I have never heard of it. Is it by chance a medical type soap opera? If so, that would explain my ignorance of it.

Green Wing is a crazy interpretation of life in a hospital. Mad as it is, there is a lot that is very near to the actual goings on and, as I remarked above, the family think that quite a lot is too near the truth.
