well I now don't think your board dose take a floppy drive even though the specification say it dose, there is no sign of a slot for it to go in on the board in the picture. On an older gigabyte board I have the Green slot is for IDE and the specification say you have one of those as well, I cannot see another one on the picture for the floppy.

A Floppy slot is exactly like an IDE slot, but smaller.

I believe IDE has 40, and a floppy has 34. Mind you I have never taken the time to count, so I cannot be sure :)

Incorrect..! , The IDE interface has 44 pin's and the floppy interface has 40 pin's....

Thank goodness for that.

I've been up all night worrying about it.

The floppy connector is on the bottom left hand corner of the board, the link you gave shows a picture of the motherboard which mark2 posted, showing the floppy connector under the bottom PCI slot.

In the picture it shows it as coloured black.

In the second picture Mark2 posted it shows it labelled as FDD and it is under PCI2.

You just need the cable to connect to the floppy drive and the FDD connector on the motherboard.

Make sure when you connect it that the red stripe on the cable is on the left, if you connect it up and the green light is permanently on connect the cable with the red stripe facing the other way.

ok i see it now

do i need to connect anything else?

+ the power lead from the PSU :) - it should only fit one way at the floppy end.

If you're using a flat 40pin floppy lead, the twisted bit should be at the floppy drive end.

When you've got it right it should look like this :-

You've got the cable in upside down , flip it over... Don't run it that way , you'll screw up the computer...

Did you make sure to line up the red wire with the little number ones on the MOBO and floppy drive...?? Is the twisted part attached to the drive and not the MOBO..?
