Gandalph Posted February 24, 2007 Report Share Posted February 24, 2007 Getting back to biscuits for a moment - I had three double choc cookies after some pate and salad for lunch with a lovely glass of Chilean Cab sav white wine.You lot can stroll down memory lane if you like - but why not start a dedicated thread - and leave us biscuit lovers to wet an index finger and wipe up the last crumbs off the plate.O.K. I'll do an 'andsome:-"I don't like chocolate chip bicuits."On a more positive note I do like your stem ginger biscuits.And for the reminscent side of things:-I can remember when Penguin bicuits tasted of real penguins and there was a whole bird in each biscuit.Is that better??Well, I would agree with that statement, although I find these day's that the chocolate on a Penquin Biscuit is a lot thinner than it used to be. If one cares to look back, say, a couple of years, it will be seen that the new bumper size is no larger than the new bumper size introduced then, or two years previous to that and so on.It's a way of invisibly increasing prices. Gandalph Posted February 24, 2007 Report Share Posted February 24, 2007 The first time I noticed chocolate getting thinner was on a Kit Kat. I had taken it out of the wrapper,(obviously, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to see it) and it was bottom side up. It was then I noticed the wafer biscuit through the minuscule layer of chocolate. I figured out then that the price of cocoa beans had gone up and the way to compensate a price increase in the final product was to put a thinner layer of chocolate on. The Antartic is getting warmer and it is slowly melting the chocolate coating on the penguins.I always thought that the biscuits were made from the Cape Penguin from South Africa.
