Thos Posted April 24, 2007 Report Share Posted April 24, 2007 Farewell for three weeks or so. After today, I won't be having the pleasure of reading your posts for a while. Tomorrow, we are going into London to see "The Sound of Music" at the Palladium, a Christmas present from our eldest granddaughter. Then early on Thursday morning we fly to Miami for embarkation on a cruise through the Panama canal finishing up in San Francisco on 12 May. Though there are internet facilities on board, I doubt whether I will use them except for keeping in touch with relatives.Be good and don't argue amongst yourselves whilst I am away! Thos. andsome Posted April 24, 2007 Report Share Posted April 24, 2007 We too are booked in to see The Sound of music, in September.Have a really great time, you will love San Francisco. Please whatever you do have at least one seafood meal on Fisherman's wharf. The Pacific crab, with a bowl of salad and a basket of sour dough bread is an experience to remember. I would also suggest a trip to Alcatraz. Book the trip that includes the use of a Walkman. It directs you all round, and you can see Machine Gun Kelly's cell, Al Capone's cell, The Bird mans cell etc etc. You switch the tape on and off as required, much better than a conducted tour. To see inside that place is a humbling experience. Another place NOT to miss is the cable car museum. Besides being a museum it is also the working hub of the system.
