nellie2 Posted July 19, 2007 Report Share Posted July 19, 2007 Hello peopleI'm on my holidays at the moment, staying with some friends in Belgium. It's lovely here and the weather is sunny and warm (Is it still raining in the UK?) Arrived yesterday and last evening we went down to a local lake and sat drinking beer and eating strawberries...and quacking to the ducks in French. Then we went on to a restaurant called Happy's and had a fantastic meal with a chocolate pudding to die for! nellie2 Posted July 20, 2007 Author Report Share Posted July 20, 2007 Hello.... I think I've got a bit of a hangover!! Had a great day yesterday. We started it off by going swimming at the local pool in Overijse (where I'm staying). It's got a great slidy thing which you go down in about three sections. Great fun! Then we had a light lunch and then went to Waterloo where we spent the afternoon. What a fantastic place. I didn't realise that we were so close to Waterloo and I didn't realise just what a huge battle it is. I went up all 126 steps of the Lions Mound.. see piccy... it really is high and you get a great view of the battlefields.Then we went around the museums, and into the Panorama, which is itself a national monument and gives you a great feel of what it might have been like to see the battle from the top of the mound. Then we went on this really bumpy bus that took you round the battlefields themselves... all for 12 Euros!!The second piccy is of my host, Tony, taken at the top of the Lion's mound.Later that evening, we went into Brussels and ended up having a fine time at a Kareoke bar... I was a star with the Shoop shoop song :D .... They don't seem to have closing time here and we thought it might be a good time to call it a night at about four in the morning.I don't know what we are doing today... everyone else are still snoring their heads of right now which is fine by me as it gives me a chance to recover a little! :D Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But we went swimming again and had another play on the slide, and then later on we went for a lovely meal at a a place called Este. It doesn't seem to have a web page, but it's speciality is Mussels and I tried them for the very first time last night and they were lovely.. I quite surprised myself. We then went for a wander around the lake and had a few beers and then back for a fairly early night.
