-pops-
I wouldn't trust the Bank of America. They are always emailing me asking me to confirm my details and no matter how many times I answer them, they keep writing. Not very efficient - but that seems to be banks in general now. None of the dozens of banks that contact me ever take any notice of my replies. :(
andsome
Send me the money, and I'll send my details by return. HONEST GUV. :D
-pops-
We may joke about it but, unfortunately, lots of people are taken in by things like this, even now after all the publicity there has been.I know someone (who should have known better as he was an accountant) who was taken in by the Nigerian scam when it was operated through Telex (remember that?) mark2
We may joke about it but, unfortunately, lots of people are taken in by things like this, even now after all the publicity there has been.Unfortunately the scammers are increasing as are the differing formats they use, they're not all targetted at the greed of the victim. Whilst we may immediately spot them as scams, they are very well engineered to trap the unwary.Who could resist helping a disabled child in a refugee camp? seems to be a simple begging letter.how about someone setting up an orphanage?a cancer sufferer?or you sell something online, they send a cheque in excess of the amount agreed, you bank it, it appears to clear, you send them the excess, then the bank returns the cheque as fake or stolen. Or perhaps you become an agent for an online sales co. Customers send you the cheques, you bank them, they clear and you retain 10% then send the rest off to the scammer. see above. In some of the cheque scams you recieve other victims money to forward on.These scammers have associates in numerous places over the world, Houston, Toronto and Amsterdam immediately spring to mind as sources of fake cheques, Would you immediately connect them to a nigerian scam.Visit http://www.scamvictimsunited.com/phpBB2/index.php there are a few tales being told there by victims that show the depths to which these scammers will sink

andsome
I know that it's hard to believe, but some time ago when I posted on here concerning the Nigerian scam, and laughably claimed that the nice Nigerian gentleman had visited me at home and bought my cheque with him, several of the then members on the forum took it seriously. :D
