AlanHo Posted November 19, 2007 Report Share Posted November 19, 2007 A computer expert (he works in an Indian call centre) told me that a common reason for an LCD monitor to lose its brilliance at the bottom of the screen is directly attributable to deleting text.When you highlight text and hit the delete ket - the unwanted letters fall to the bottom of the screen. Flat and continuous letters like the letter I and O are not too much of a problem because they pile up in a micoscopically thin layer and it takes years before the effects show. However - the letters M and W can create big problems because by virtue of their convoluted shape they get tangled up and quickly build into a pile.The recommendation is to use the edit menu and delete from there so the letters go nicely into the recycle or waste bin. Tankus Posted November 19, 2007 Report Share Posted November 19, 2007 my Korean built monitor has a built in trough at the base of the screen specifically for this reason ....like a crumb tray in a toaster (I think that they have to pay a license for its use to some designer who used to work in Hovis, then registering his patents while working for RusellHobbs design bureau (hobbslot))I just have to run a vacuum cleaner over it every 6 months , or more often if they start to smellCunning those Koreans ...innit ! Tankus Posted November 19, 2007 Report Share Posted November 19, 2007 Less smelly than working in a uk coup I would imagine (which I have done) as the bird-shit freezes , but the egg laying to bird ratio will significantly drop ....leg warmers perhaps ,as paraffin heaters could prove structurally problematic , although Winston Churchill did suggest mixing straw with water, then freezing it to produce icecrete ...If it could work for north Atlantic aircraft carriers , chicken coups should be no problemo ...Chilling the eggs themselves is also not a good idea ...Maybe train the birds to lay in woolly socks (Pavlovian response , extra feed incentive ? ) which could be attached to some sort of conveyor belt mechanism ..keeping them above freezing before packing ! there is potential here .......innuit !got to wonder how they do it in Greenland Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
