We need some candidates that are prepared to live on their wages then we might get somewhere.

Your on the right lines there.

The problem seems to be that there is some sort of mental condition that causes pretty nearly everyone who is put in a position of dealing with large quantities of money to feel that they have a god given right to help themselves to a quantity of it.

It mattereth not if it is a charity, a bank, a corporation or a government, if there is a large sum of money lying about someone will find justification for taking some of it.

The problem is that there are far too many people with the old view, (I have always voted Labour, they are for the working class, my parents and their parents voted Labour before me), they cannot see beyond the end of their noses. This view has about as much merit as saying the they would not vote Tory because they did not like Thatcher. She has long since gone.

I disagree as 'old' Labour was proven to be bad for the country with the winter of discontent and numerous strikes bringing the country down to it's knees.

I thought that 'New' Labour was different and I, as well as millions of people, were fooled.

I would never vote Conservative and this has nothing to do with Thatcher but the reason is that the Tories always look after the rich and don't give a toss about the working class and poor.

Cameron is just shedding 'crocodile tears' about the poor being hit with the abolition of the 10p tax rate as it was the Tories who voted against the national minimum wage, New Deal, etc.

They are not much better than Labour in my opinion.

No one knows, he is as yet untried. I reserve judgement.

Look at the last Tory government - 3 million unemployed, interest rates at 15%, record number of home repossessions!

I say give the Liberals a chance and they are the party I'm going to vote for in the next general election despite their pro-European views (which I don't agree with by the way) as it doesn't really matter as we are in too deep in Europe now anyway.

Yes like the recent news that MP's have demanded that they get a £15,000 pay rise

My annual salary doesn't even add up to that amount :(

You seem to forget that doing a job as strenuous and tiring as ruining a country needs a special sort of person and special people need special amounts of money.

oink oink ...this should be fun

Some of Tony Blair’s expenses claims, which the High Court last week ruled should be disclosed to the public, have been shredded. The documents, itemising Blair’s claims for household expenses during a year of his premiership, were destroyed in the midst of a legal battle over whether they should be published. All MPs’ expenses are funded by taxpayers.

It is a criminal offence to destroy documents to prevent their disclosure under freedom of information (FOI) laws, but Westminster officials say they were unaware that the files were the subject of a legal challenge. They insist they were destroyed by mistake.

I have to keep all my expense receipts and claims for 4 years as they may be required by inland revenue for review .... It is a legal compliance ...awright fer some though ..innit ..!

Hundreds of Blair's expenses claims have been destroyed, but Westminster officials insist the documents were destroyed by mistake and did not realise they were the subject of a legal challenge

I find the above hard to believe when I read this...

Court papers have now revealed that files covering claims of Myrobella, his Sedgefield constituency home, were destroyed by Commons officials after they rejected a request under the Freedom of Information Act.

and this...

Commons Speaker Michael Martin allowed officials to destroy claim forms and receipts up to April 2005 - meaning thousands of expenses have been secretly shredded.

No wonder why people have such contempt for politicians who think they are above the law

So who is making the decisions not to prosecute these criminals? Like others, when I was a rep I had to put in a receipt for absolutely every penny that I wanted to claim. Where does the CPS stand in all of this?
