andsome
I asked 'Er indoors what she wanted to do for our Golden Wedding anniversary. She replied Venice please. We have only been once on a boat trip from Yugoslavia many years ago. We leave Trent Valley station in Lichfield for Euston early Thursday morning. From St Pancras we go to Paris Norde on Eurostar. From Paris Bercy we catch a first class sleeper for Venice St Lucia, arriving nicely at about 9-30 a.m. on Friday morning . We then have four night staying here. They appear to be very nice people who run the place, a very small seven bed roomed Locanda. I have been in touch several times by e mail to make various arrangements, and have received an excellent reception. We are lucky in as much as the return train does not leave Venice until 7-30 in the evening on Tuesday, so we have a full five days there. :D
AlanHo
I hope you have a wonderful time. Er indoors deserves a medal - as well as a trip to Venice.
-pops-
Venice is the most wonderful place in the world.Make sure you take a vaporetto to San Michele. It's the cemetery but there's a bigger collection of famous people there that almost anywhere.

andsome
Welcome back! Where are the photos? :0Many thanks. I have not even looked at the camera yet. We had a lovely few days. The weather was very kind to us. Warm and with long sunny periods on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday was a scorcher. Monday and Tuesday were cooler but dry until shortly before our train left, then it started to rain. Our accommodation was excellent and I would recommend it to anyone. We saw quite a bit of art there, but completely wasted a couple of hours because her indoors wanted to go HERE. What a load of pretentious rubbish it was. The other places were very interesting. :D
