Gandalph Posted January 9, 2009 Report Share Posted January 9, 2009 I remember a couple of years ago across on the PCA Forum someone started a post on the subject that they were about to give away an old computer which they had had for a few years and what did the members think he should do to remove the data on the hard drive. Several suggestions were put forward. Use Killdisk, use this, use that and the other. My advice was to remove the HDD and put it on the driveway and belt it several times with a sledge hammer as there was no way that any program, at that time, would ever remove all the data from the disc. Not even writing zero's to it would remove all data.A certain person with a name not to disimalar to my own churped up and said rubbish, what a load of crap, then went on to say that there were several free programs that would remove the data from the disc. That's apparently now the only way you can truly get rid of 100% of your hard drives data. It's got citric acid in it (doesn't begin with an 's' but the 'c' is pronounced like one).Or lysergic acid diethylamide. It's got 2 's' sounds in it.
