There were complaints in 2006 about pre-school children attending two nurseries in Oxfordshire being taught "Baa Baa Rainbow Sheep". Last year, a story based on the Three Little Pigs fairy tale was turned down by a government agency's awards panel as the subject matter could offend Muslims. A digital book, re-telling the classic story, was rejected by judges who warned that "the use of pigs raises cultural issues". It was being said that mothers are now wanting to use newer nursery rhymes (I don't know any names), rather than the old Cinderella as her two sisters were scary. Much like the poor ol' Snow White because the wicked witch was scary in that too.And then we move on to nursery rhymes like Little Red Riding Hood. It apparently, somehow teaches little kids to wonder off into woods alone to be like the infamous "Little Red Riding Hood" which a mother would consider as bad. Also the same nursery rhyme, little miss Riding Hoods; it's scary how the nanny gets eaten by the wolf.The little pigs who got their poor houses blown down by the wolf, that's scary too.So really, anything traditional is now being considered "scary/frightening".I do hope the tradition Full English Breakfast doesn't go next!
