johnoo
I received an E mail today from somebody I did not know and (the strange part) it was not addressed to me and I was not copied. The mail itself just quoted another web address, I deleted and did not enter this site. But the question is how did it get to me?Am I being over protective?Neither AVG or Spybot have picked up any problems. catgate
Is there no clue if you open the headers?
johnoo
Is there no clue if you open the headers? No i opened the mail, noted the message was just another web address, did not even note down the address, and cancelled the maul to "trash" and then deleted it.Does this mean it's an unsolved problem? catgate
It does as far as I'm concerned, but it would have been interesting to know how it happened.

ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Spammers can forge almost anything into the email headers, so you cannot trust To: or Cc: information. It was most likely sent via Bcc:
owj
Similar case here; I keep getting personal messages from Someone called Victoria, saying she has looked at my profile and was interested - yeah right! There is bugrall in my profile to even interest in a dead frog!Sounds like another Nigerian Bank Fraud!!!Owen

It was most likely sent via Bcc:Yes, spammers are good programmers too. They know their game. I receive similar email too addressing Lawrence but I am not Lawrence. I think they are just testing the security or something. Don't ever reply because they might have spywares that will take all your private info by replying to it. Lamb Chop
Since my ISP started charging extra to stop spam messages I receive about 20 or so emails daily offering me -a female - a penis enlargement or blue pills I am still in contract until October. Belatucadrus
The ones that irritate me most are those where they've changed the name a bit to circumvent the spam filters, as if I'm suddenly going to fork out hard earned cash for dodgy blue Vi/\gra pills having already taken the steps to block Viagra. As if their piddling around with a few letters is going to impress me with their cleverness so much it'll make me take a 180 degree turn, change my mind and start buying the crap. I also decline to feel privileged by all the tedious invites to join their feeble online casinos.
