X Factor question

I'm not a huge talent show fan and only caught a bit of this weeks saturation coverage by accident, but it did prompt a series of questions, hopefully somebody can provide an answer or two.

1) How did such a bunch of mediocre tone deaf no hopers get through to this stage ?

2) Why when the American Idol crew can find dozens of talented performers can we not come up with one ?

3) How in the name of all that's holy can Cheryl Cole be looking at a number one with such a thin weedy voice ? Presumably the dance routine and the split arsed trousers now count for more than vocal delivery. They dared to say the Monkeys were manufactured.

Additional question

4) Why when there are so many digital channels do I spend so long hopping from channel to channel in the vague hope that I'll find something half watchable that I haven't already seen six times this week ?

1) They couldn't find any talented people.

2) They can't find any in Britain.

3) Cheryl Cole probably gets a load of money to say things like that.

4) If you find anything in the future send me an e-mail and I will watch it as well. I can't find anything either.

In answer to 1,2 and 3 I think it is fairly safe to say that in "pop" as in sewage and politics the scum always rises to the top.

In answer 4 I think I can say that since we got a set top box a few months ago the best I have been able to find is channel 718 and that has more than a long way to go to be accepteble.

I never watch the X Factor.......

I also have trouble finding anything to watch - had to resort to Millionaire and CSI Miami last night! The saving grace for us is that we're getting through the whole 3rd series of Dexter but even so, it gets boring watching an episode EVERY night.

Look out for The Unit - ch 31 Fridays- excellent! We were also a fan of Life ch 10 - with the wonderful Damien Lewis - but it's the last ever episode this week - the USA didn't take to it.

Trying to be positive - Spooks will be back soon - Richard Armitage is lovely eye candy at least.. :air_kiss:

TV is getting worse by the week. Once any channel finds something that is popular for a series they flog it to death. A typical example is strictly come dancing. This was fine for a couple of series, but now it is on every weekday night plus Saturday, and dragged up every morning on the BBC breakfast show. The so called dances bear no relationship to the ballroom dancing that I was taught to medal standard in my teens. Crap like big brother can surely appeal only to the absolute gutter in the taste stakes. Even interesting well made shows are frequently spoilt by incessant loud inappropriate so called music. We listen far more often now to the radio.
