Of course, I meant in addition to the usual togs. On Christmas Eve we had the nearest thing we've ever had to snow. It was a kind of fine falling mist of minute particles of frozen moisture - quite amazing. And we're told we're experiencing global warming - well, you in the UK know all about that don't you, especially if you happened to be travelling on Eurostar. Personally, I'm not convinced by the arguments. There's too many other factors involved apart from greenhouse gases, too much variation over the centuries, and too much money involved in the climate change industry.

It is evident that average temperatures are rising. We will always experience extremes one way or the other. It is average temperature rises that are of concern. The world temperature has of course always had variations over many years, and the average is definitely rising at present. I can see Thai common sense in cutting CO2 emissions as these are known to cause temperature rises, and there seems to be little point in hurrying the process along. Anyone can see from the footage shown over the years that the polar ice caps are melting rapidly, and many countries are already threatened by rising water levels.

I agree that there does seem evidence global warming is occurring, at least over the last few decades, although over centuries and millenia such variations are not unusual and cannot be controlled. Unfortunately the whole issue has been politicised and made into a huge money-making machine as well. Personally, I thought the Copenhagen conference was disgusting. The cost was gigantic and the carbon footprint made by jetting in and out all those thousands of people from all over the world in mid-winter in a northern European country must have been enormous. Personally, I wouldn't trust any of the people involved in that fiasco to look after my or the world's welfare.

By definition any sort of pollution should be avoided, but probably no effective steps on the world-wide problem will be taken until one of the big powers faces a serious health threat - as happened in the UK in the 1950s with "smog".

By the way, what's "Thai common sense"? Sounds like fun to me. :D

There are graphs, produced by the doom predictors which, inadvertently for their benefit, show that "global warming" occurs every 100,000 years (approx.) and the warming precedes the CO2 rise. The quite reasonable conclusion being that the increase in temperature releases the desolved CO2 from the oceans back into the air, from whence it goes back into the sea as things cool down.

What has not been ascertained, as far as I can see, is who it is that is turning the sunspot activity setting up to FULL at these intervals.

I think it's the same bunch or geezers (and geexeresses) who altered our DNA, assassinated Kennedy, attacked the World trade Center on 9/11, caused the Asian tsunami in 2004, etc, etc. The finger of suspicion points to the Elvis Presley Fan Club, but I haven't got all the evidence yet.
