CurlyWhirly
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/greece/7696870/British-taxpayers-ordered-to-bail-out-euro.htmlEuro-zone leaders are attempting to get round objections from countries such as Britain by invoking Article 122 of the Lisbon Treaty, intended to enable a collective response to natural disasters. This does not need unanimous agreement. We have Gordon Brown to thank for this as he signed the Lisbon Treaty reneging on his manifesto pledge to give us a referendum Also regarding the EU rebate that Maggie fought for and won, Tony Blair gave it away costing the UK taxpayers billions As we are not in the Euro, I don't see why we should bail out Greece

AlanHo
Those who have travelled through Europe will have seen huge investment in the infrastructure of some countries by Brussels. For example Spain now has a high speed railway system and huge improvements to the motorways and roads throughout the country - even inland where traffic is minimal. The roads in Madeira have changed beyond recognition in the last few years and due to the terrain - a high proportion of the new mileage has required the construction of many miles of expensive new tunnels through the volcanic rock.A significant amount of the UK's contribution to the Brussels budget has been used to finance these improvements. Meanwhile, our road system is heading for gridlock and our rail system is antiquated.I hold out lttle hope that the practice of Brussels using us as a cash cow will change. Chris
Can you imagine our road network being upgraded for the new motorist? Heh, they can't even get pothole filling right!

Gandalph
Some of the roads up here are so bad that it is just the holes that are holding the road together.
rong
Someone wanted some holes the other day, perhaps they could go up north for them
Gandalph
Someone wanted some holes the other day, perhaps they could go up north for themIt was catgate for a new Charity that has started up. If he was to come up and get the holes, what is left of the surrounding roads would totally collapse as there would be nothing holding them together. Mark200
The cost to the British economy if Greece went bankrupt would be far more than the cost of contributing to this loan.
catgate
The cost to the British economy if Greece went bankrupt would be far more than the cost of contributing to this loan.We have nothing to loan. We are currently running on notional money. Perhaps we should just "think" them some money.

andsome
As I understand it we will NOT be contributing to the Euro zone bail out as we are not in the Euro. We will however be making a contribution via the IMF, as will every other world wide member. This has nothing to do with us being in or out of Europe.
