Sir T Fireball
Oxy (US company) - Piper Alpha rig in the North seaBlew up in 1988 killing 167 men...Shell oil - Nigerian Delta - Ongoing spillagesAnyone got a clue how much oil is spilt into the Nigerian Delta every year? Google it and then show sympathy for Deepwater Horizon....I dare you!Union Carbide (India)Ltd (US company) - chemical plant in Bhopal IndiaBlew up in 1984. How many THOUSANDS died because of that? Worse still, the hypocrites now hounding BP are still forcing the Bhopal survivors to fight for compensation in American courts today, 26 years after the event? To the Americans that are suffering, I say "tough titty". What goes around, comes around and I enjoy seeing them get a taste of their own medicine. Never has a nation comprised of so many self-righteous, sanctimonious, holier than thou, my excrement don't stink cry babies deserved anything more.It is a pity about the fish and birds though.p.s. I was an Obama fan once upon a time. Now his 'Americanism' is starting to show through the veneer and it seems he is a fake jingoist, just like so many of them.Next we will be hearing them complain about China or Iran executing convicted murderers......pot & kettle anyone??? -pops-
Tony Hayward should have had tutoring from George Galloway before he went before the hearing. This is something I was contemplating commenting on but the New Statesman has done it far better than I could have done. Do read all the YouTube sections relating to this in the link./>http://www.newstatesman.com/blogs/the-staggers/2010/06/boss-answer-hayward-reluctanceThis may be shorter for general reading: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyyGoPerzWc&feature=related

It's a drop in the ocean to them. Crikey. However BP's share price has nearly halved since the rig exploded and the subsequent oil spillage knocking over £50 billion of the company value :0 Regarding blame, I will wait until the enquiry has reported before making a judgment on whether BP deserves all the flak it's getting. My reason is, that although the oil rig was American and the failure of the BOP (Blowout Preventer) was American built, if it's true that BP 'cut corners' to save money and time then that is gross negligence and BP deserve all they get. CurlyWhirly
Oxy (US company) - Piper Alpha rig in the North seaBlew up in 1988 killing 167 men...I watched 'This Week' a few days ago and Andrew Neil made the point that, back then, the British didn't enter into any anti-American lingo like Obama is currently doing with the emphasis on British Petroleum.Shell oil - Nigerian Delta - Ongoing spillagesAnyone got a clue how much oil is spilt into the Nigerian Delta every year? Google it and then show sympathy for Deepwater Horizon....I dare you!I just did and see what you mean Whoever is responsible for this oil spill should be cleaning it up Blew up in 1984. How many THOUSANDS died because of that? Worse still, the hypocrites now hounding BP are still forcing the Bhopal survivors to fight for compensation in American courts today, 26 years after the event?Double standards here then.It is a pity about the fish and birds though.Yes it is :( p.s. Now his 'Americanism' is starting to show through the veneer and it seems he is a fake jingoist, just like so many of them.I think he's doing it because his popularity is waning and there are elections in November! -pops-
-and another thing, the US company Halliburton http://www.halliburton.com/ is involved (but not much pubicised) in this current BP disaster. Anyone who cares to look at the references to Galloway's testimony (above) will hear that very same company being disparaged, indeed, accused of downright dishonesty, by Galloway.Odd how names keep turning up. CurlyWhirly
Tony Hayward is being criticised for attending a yacht race - yet another PR disaster. Also BP are going to sue Anadarko - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/energy/oilandgas/7840455/Oil-spill-BP-to-sue-partner-in-Gulf-oil-well.html
CurlyWhirly
From the above link:BP is selling the oil captured from the leak and donating the proceeds to charity, but neither Anadarko or  Mitsui will make a similar commitment. At least BP are being charitable which is more than can be said for the American companies! Is sailing a boat whilst your company is tackling an oil spill as bad as enjoying umpteen raounds of golf whilst your country is at war and lives are being lost daily?Pass the bucket. Tankus
This is the beach next to the village where my dad was brought up , It got hit by the sea empress disaster in milford haven 1996 (texaco chevron) Massive damage to a world heritage and the UK's only national coastline park. You can still find pockets of rubbery black stuff on the beach if you dig in some places ,14 years later ... I no longer go cockling there ....../>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_Empress_DisasterThis is a fairly high energy environment with 35ft tidal races, increasing its chances of it being broken down , the Everglades will have no chance , and once its in the reed-beds , that's it. It will take decades to recover .Lets hope the residents get a better deal than Bhopal
