AlanHo
There used to be 'Drag Racing' in Hednesford (Staffs). However, it did not look like that! :0When I were but a lad and newly married for the first time - I lived in Rugely and used to go to the Hendesford raceway quite often. They used to have stock car and banger racing plus some destruction derbies - but it was an oval track with banking - not a long flat drag racing track like Santa Pod. catgate
I went there once. It is fine for a visit, but got a bit boring after a while.:)You should have gone when there was some racing going on. It would have been quite different.edit:- After writing the above I was thinking about our visits to the track at Nelson and one particular driver who was a rising star. We knew him as Spinner Lund. The track was closed after a few years and that was that as far as stockcar racing went.I wondered if Google would show anything of Spinner's susequent efforts. />http://f1stockcars.com/the-drivers/profiles/john-lund-53/What a surprise. The Top Man used to be a chap called Smith but Spinner seems to have demoted him quite well over the years.
MANEMAN
Now all of that nice post was - "just another post" to you catgate. To andsome who used to stand and look at an empty racetrack with glazed eyes, and a bored look on his face ? - Your post is to be his epiphany, - his awakening. We are at this very moment in time trying to contact his carers to explain to him the concept that he should've gon' to the racetrack when there was a race on.These were the formative years for him, and who knows, he may have just attended a race, got a burger from the stand, got to have liked McDonalds food, and not excluded himself from the "Free Windows Forum Christmas Happy Meal Extravaganza" this year.Life holds some funny twists and turns for some of us.John.
