Belatucadrus
Some of you may remember a somewhat self pitying post from yours truly bemoaning the untimely demise of my Toyota Celica a couple of years ago click here . Unfortunately at the time there wasn't much in the way of sports coupes on the market and what there was didn't grab me so to speak. So I spent the last few years as a nominated driver on other family vehicles being very practical but somewhat dull. Things on the coupe front got better new cars appeared got tested yet for one reason or another nowt happened. Then those jolly nice people at BMW appear to have had a rush of blood to the head for which I am most grateful. They preregistered some Z4 convertible coupes and then sold them at what can be described as massive discounts. Technically it was registered before Christmas eve but the car wasn't taxed, plated or used. So for the loss of one months warranty and the privaledge of being first on the DVLA docs I saved £10,000 and a car that was well outside my budget is now sitting in the garage.Am I boasting, crowing or showing off ?HELL YES !!Whoopee !! rong
The convertible looks about the best in white, the only problem being that white is the new silver
Belatucadrus
As I keep cars a long time I'll be driving it long after the trendy crew have gravitated to something else.

Belatucadrus
Thanks Irene, to be honest I like a car to look the part. Too many of the current crop of coupes have given practicality so much priority that they just look like mildly tweaked three door hatchbacks. The Vauxhall GTC looks a nice car has plenty of room but put it in a car park with other Astras in and it becomes totally anonymous. The Z4 isn't anywhere near as practical as the Celica but I can live with it.Some of the car reviewers suggest that the 2.0 L may be a bit of a posers car but what the hell I can live with that, it's still the quickest fastest car I've ever owned and with all the damned Gatsos littering the place is more than enough to get me in real trouble if I don't watch myself.I really liked the new Toyota GT86 but think it's rather overpriced, discounts are near non existent and to get to the same level of kit the BMW has would have set me back an additional £4500 and I don't think it's that much better even if I could afford it. MANEMAN
Congrats. But you could have sold it better on the pictures. :) Nice car.
Belatucadrus
The picture was a quick snap at the handover bay just before they showed me round the car. I intend to get some better shots around home turf when the lighting gets a bit less gloomy.Mine is very similar to the one you've shown but with black leather and smaller wheels. I suspect that one has cruise control as there's an additional stalk to the left of the steering wheel that mine doesn't have. That one also has parking sensors that mine hasn't got.Odd thing is that while they were offering monumental discounts on the cars, extras were pretty much list price and jacked the total out of my range pretty sharpish. MANEMAN
'andsome Said : Very nice too. Yes. And could quite easily be converted into a sports pickup too Keith. The Z4 is the only one of the "Sport" range that BMW hasn't offered a pickup in their production run for quite some years.
Belatucadrus
Had a Tracker fitted this morning, one more weapon against the ratbags who would like to take my new pride and joy without consent.
Belatucadrus
I keep driving it with the roof down it's fun but I must have a screw loose as it's still flipping cold and I'm afraid my ears are going to fall off.
