Belatucadrus Posted May 8, 2017 Report Share Posted May 8, 2017 As cloaking is used to con search engines into directing people somewhere they don't want to go, they're a fiddle and a monumental waste of a users time. As to colour I suppose it depends where they redirect the search, if it drops you on porn or malware they're definitely black. For unrequired commercial links I'd count them as dark grey. There was a lot of work done by the agricultural group in Oxford. Prof. Angus Patterson had a great deal of success with an old pig riding side saddle on a three wheel trolley driven by an engine taken from a Leeds Corporation bus. After about a week the pig was able to travel from Leeds Central to Birmingham playing "Moon River" on the bagpipes whilst doing a sailors hornpipe. These unethical tactics don't solve for the searcher and often end in a penalty from search engines. Black hat techniques include keyword stuffing, cloaking, and using private link networks.
