We are off to Cheshire to spend Christmas & Boxing Day with our son and family (daughter is in a profession which is limited by shifts, so can only join us when shift pattern allows ). I will of course be giving presents to my Son an Daughter-in-Law and Granddaughter, sending cards out to friends. My Daughter-in-Law insists that I go up to Her's for my Christmas dinner at which this year she will be disappointed, I'm going to refuse. I just want a quiet Christmas to do my own thing. -pops- Posted December 23, 2017 Report Share Posted December 23, 2017 Further to what I said above, the dog hotel has enlarged to four guests. Good job we have a large conservatory to accommodate them. Fortunately, they all know each other and are "friends" so hopefully, everything will be peaceful. There is still nothing arranged for any human visitors we may receive so it's a case of pot luck whether they get fed or not. I'm sure there will be something suitably seasonal available. There is a nice game pie in the oven ATM and a whole fillet of beef waiting to be cut and cooked as requested so I'm sure we will survive. Family visit wise, our elder son decided to do the whole of Route 66 in the USA - something he's wanted to do since he was a student. Younger son and his partner (soon to be husband) have just bought a house in the mountains overlooking Grasse in the South of France (not far from where I used to work, in fact) so they are down there getting things organised. AlanHo Posted December 23, 2017 Report Share Posted December 23, 2017 We are staying at home and on Monday and will be having one of Libby's daughters and husband for lunch. My job is to cook the turkey and look after the booze. I am determined to have a small lunch, limited wine and a tiny helping of Christmas pud and custard. I just may avoid any weight gain this year. As of today I weigh 76.6 Kg and will hopefully weigh the same on Tuesday - all being well. If it was up to me we would have my favourite lunch on Monday - home cooked deep fried, crispy battered, haddock, chips and marrowfat peas. But I have been out-voted again.
