If you have your own web space, be very carfull what files you put up there for people to download.

I added a mpeg 16mb file up on my space for a few of my friends to download and look at, (no problem with that), well it turns out that this file has prooved very popular. I am alloud 25Gb traffic a month to and from my web space.

One of my freinds posted the link on the Leeds United football forum (Bad Move)

That 16 Mb file has been downloaded 16743 times in less that 3 weeks :censored:

My traffic so far this month is 84 GB almost 60 Gb over my limit, i now have to pay my web space provider €138 for the extra traffic. :censored:

So just be carefull and think about what you are putting up there for people to download.

I've just gone through the telewest agreement and I can't find anything about a traffic limit or how much they will charge you if you go over it.

My site providers give me a traffic limit of ..... um quite a lot... I was reading it earlier... I think it is 5000mb per month. And if I go over it they charge me 0.005p per mb. The most I've used in a month so far is 85mb!!!

It's a good idea to check the stats of files every day to see how it's doing - Tony, I've seen people owe thousands of dollars in hosting bills after their movies have been Farked, and thankfully the person responsible for spreading the link paid up (since the movie was meant to be viewed by 1 forum only).

Good advice :)
