I think RoadRunner's pretty popular in urban/suburban area's here in the U.S.  That's my ISP.  It's pretty nice because there's no PPPoE or authentication.  Your PC or Router gets an IP from your Cable Modem and you're all set.

Why not set up a poll for the US and Canada. Your ISPs are mostly unknown here (except the dreaded AOL - is it as bad there as it seems to be here?) and it would be interesting to have some information about them and how good they are.

Hi

Well i use Tiscali over here in Germany, Very cheap very reliable, and is always there, in 18 months i have always had a connection, no down time.

1mbit connection, flat rate with no monthly limits, € 15 a month.

AOL Broadband here in the US is not cool in my opinion. It makes users authenticate using PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet) which is effectively a Virtual Private Network (VPN). Since, with present technology, you can't VPN within a VPN that I know of (if anyone knows a way around this please post!), AOL Broadband users can't VPN into work! This has caused numerous problems on corporate networks I manage VPN's for.

It is also quite a pain for home users to set up on a router. The router must be set up to authenticate using PPPoE.

I voted NTL because that is who I'm with... although I'm seriously miffed that other ISP's have been giving free upgrades to their customers and NTL haven't... yet!    :)

same here plus they where the only one doing bb in the area when i subscribed.

don't know if bt have upgraded yet.
