Is there such a thing anymore?

I am talking about a single blade razor. Does such an animal still exist?

First came the straight edge razor, sharpened with a strap.

Then came the 2 edge "safety" razor (this was the first type of razor I used).

Then came the double edge razor in the early 1970's....remember Saturday Night Live making fun of it? But it did seem to do the trick.

The 3 blade razor came about in the 1990's. Things are now getting out of control.

Well it finally happened.

I received a complimentary Schick Quatro 4 blade razor in the mail yesterday.

What's next? 5 blades or will they do directly to 6 blades? :D

edit: spelling

This is an unknown to me. I haven't shaved for over forty years. When I did shave it was with a double edged Wilkinson Sword blade razor - the first stainless steel blades. Until that time it was not possible to produce a stainless steel that would catch a sharpness suitable for a razor.

I really don't see how anything can get closer than a Gillette Mach 3 turbo. I have owned three electric shavers in the past, and when the last one broke whilst on holiday, I bought a wet razor from the local shop and have NEVER used anything else since. That must have been at least thirty years ago.

I use a

Gillette M3 Power

Bassically it is a Mach 3 but with a vibrating head/blade, it gives the closest shave i have ever had.

It takes a normal AAA Battary and so far i have not replaced it, i got it at Xmas and i shave 2x a week.

What i don't undersatnd is the price of the blades, they look and shave the same as the Mach 3 blades but are double the price, so i still buy the mach 3 blades for it.

Bum Fluff :bangin:

I just hate shaving,

and as i am a builder and spend most of my time on a building site, i can't see the point in shaving every day (it's not like there are too many women around to try and impress), ;) so 2x a week is fine by me (for shaving that is). :)
