I do not hold any resentment towards anyone for not initially mentioning the American who was killed. I was happy to hear about the special ops freeing Mr. Kember and the 2 Canadians. What the hell is the matter with these people? I expect it of the gutter press, but would have hoped that in the circumstances the BBC would have behaved better than this, and left the poor man alone for a few days. All he effectively said was that Mr Kember was at home. So, we have some idiot (with his mates) blocking a road just to tell the nation that a person was at home. OK, granted there may be some slight news interest in that fact but, why must there be "on the spot" reporting of this?I live in a part of the country where a number of "well known" people live. A few months ago, one of my neighbours who is quite well known in the entertainment world gave birth - a process which is quite natural and is happening all the time to various women with little problem and seldom any outside comment. We had the press and TV here for a week with over-sized satellite dishes parked on a nearby playing field - preventing a football match being played - with reporters and camera operators blocking the road telling the news on the condition of mother and child to the whole world. This was repeated every few minutes. Non-news or what? After the week was up they all left leaving behind piles of assorted detritus, some of which I was very dubious about the legality of. I still think that the treatment of this man by the media is disgusting. Far from being a religious do gooder, he was out there helping the Iraqi people, a point that you should bear on mind, the fact that he may or may not be religious is totally irrelevant. My views on religion and all the trouble it causes are well known, but the fact remains that this man and his colleagues were trying to help.
