Most people can have a wide range of musical interests, but I can not get into the screeching in pop music.

DITTO. The constant thump thump thump irritates me as well. Thanks for the posting I will video it. Mozart is a brilliant composer, but not my favourite.

Not a huge opera fan, with the exception of Prince Igor, Turandot and Aida.

Sorry if it bugs people, but I can't stand generalisations like "I can't stand classical music, jazz or pop" ( select your own prejudice ). All these fields cover a multiplicity of genres, styles and qualities. Everybody should be able to find something in all these area of music if they listen with an open mind.

Please note this theory is fine till you look at reggae or hip-hop, both definitively unlistenable.

I agree, I can find music I like in all forms, even in reggae and hip hop, but I am still a bluesman at heart.

I can't stand hip-hop but I disagree with the reggae comment as UB40 is one of my favourite bands.

We all like different music fortunately and each to his/her own I say :)
