Thos
Earlier this year some members, in a typically generous way, gave me some helpful advice when I was thinking of my holiday plans.I fancied a cruise as it seemed to offer a comfortable, relaxed holiday with as much, or as little, strenuous activity as my wife and I feel able to manage. I wanted somewhere spectacular, where we had never been before and Alaska seemed to fit the bill.So I thought I would bring you up-to-date with my plans. I did in fact book a cruise to Alaska with Regent Seven Seas Mariner from Vancouver, cruising the Inside Passage to Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Sitka, and the Hubbard Glacier and on to Whittier. Then Anchorage, flight to Seattle and back to Heathrow. We are not able to stretch our funds to allow long-term stays in Vancouver, Anchorage or Seattle but have organized excursions to see the glaciers on a small boat, whale watching and a trip into the Yukon. My eldest son is kindly ferrying us to Heathrow on Tuesday next so for a while I won’t be able to contribute to the debates. However, just take it that I disagree with most of what most of you said and keep taking the pills.Thos.

Thos
Hi folks.Just a quickie to report back on duty. The cruise was excellent and exceeded our expectations. Flight to Vancouver was long and dull but for some reason we were upgraded to a luxury bay view suite at the Pan-Pacific Hotel, with more floor space than on the ground floor of our house! We boarded the Cruise ship next day and sailed off up the Inside Passage (doesn’t that sound rude?). We saw plenty of wildlife, including Bald Eagles, seals, sea lions, humpback, beluga and killer whales, sea otters and even a couple of sightings of bears just emerging from hibernation. It was a great cruise line with all tips, soft drinks, wine and spirits with dinner plus a couple of bottles of favourite spirits in the suite’s mini-bar included. Great food (I put on 8 pounds) and interesting shore excursions.Well I have a lot to do now. I have tried to put a few pictures in the gallery but it still seems to be inoperative so they will have to wait. I will look at what has been going on in the forum when I am able and have caught up with the 9 hour time lag. Here is a picture of our first sight of our home for the cruise.Thos.
