deuces wild
........NEGATIVE by nature?I only ask as I have only read Chicken Little type posts in this particular forum, mainly dealing with politics and politicians and mainly started by just a few members here. So is life really that bad on the other side of the pond??
AlanHo
So is life really that bad on the other side of the pond?? Not really - we simply have serious social problems, be awash with illegal immigrants, have a soaring crime rate, be taxed to the hilt, have an awful education system, a plague of single parent families, major binge drinking problems, a poor national health service, massive road congestion, lousy public transport, declining manufacturing industries, poor job prospects for the young, city ghettoes, a drug epidemic, awful TV programes (mainly American), terrible weather, major race relations problems, a drought, high taxation, soaring gas prices, serious pollution, rampant corruption in high places, major pension problems, growing obesity, high gun crime ..... and much, much, more. However, we are World champions at hooliganism and football violence so things are not all bad. catgate
I'm afraid that it's the same old song from the same old singers. :P :P :PAnd this is a major part of the problem. It is obvious, when one thinks about it, that the above old singers can remember living in, what to them, were "normal" times. To those born more recently, growing up with drugs, guns, knives, crime etc etc is "normal", consequently they have nothing with which to measure/compare their normality. Deceit, dishonesty, sleaze and corruption are rife in the community, and on TV, and so it is not viewed with any sort of surprise or abhorrence by most of the younger general public. dadyassa
Its just called freedom of speech ;) Brits haven`t been brainwashed into thinking everything is hunky- dory in their country and if anything goes wrong their excellent government will sort it. AlanHo
You won't convince one or two on here. He's convinced me Not only that - I'm sick to death of whinging old coffin dodgers rambling on and on incessantly about how things used to be better, criticising our wonderful government and using up valuable health and pension resources. You get free pension money every week - if you spent more of it on more healthy activities than making complaining posts on a computer forum - you might be a bit happier like what I am. ;)

AlanHo
Perhaps but started to list to off-topic. Maybe we can bring it back on course................. :DWhatd'ya mean off topic. You started it and encouraged the old whingers to bang on all over again. The trouble with you Americans is that you have a nasty habit of starting a war and then expect everyone to help you out in finishing it. You should know by now that once you get a Brit whinger going - he is not going to stop whilst there is the faintest shred of complaining left untouched. There are a few old codgers in this forum who have honed moaning into a fine art and an envious American aint going to put them off - no way man. ;)
