Sick to my back teeth.

Haven't been contributing much to the forum over the past few days as I've had a back tooth problem.

On Friday last I went to a Travel Exhibition at Olympia, London. There was a stand adjacent selling "real organic meat" burgers etc so I bought one for lunch. In the first place it was dry and uninteresting (not a patch on a McDonald's) and secondly I chewed on a bit which had a piece of bone in it. I heard what seemed to me to be a loud crack and felt a searing pain in a back tooth. It quitened down a bit but next day it started to become very painful. On Monday it was swollen and my dentist fitted me in on Tuesday morning. I had cracked a large back molar completely through longways. No alternative but extraction which was a long job picking out the last bits after the tooth had broken up.

However all is now done, only the after effects of sore mouth and jaw after all the tugging. Can't drink alcohol until the antibiotic course is finished.

Just for interest, the charge under the NHS was £15.50!

I would be inclined to go and see if the real organic meat purveyor was prepared to give you real organic reparation for you pain and lost of future chewing capacity.

If he refuses kick him in the organics.

However I suppose he was an illegal immigrant, selling illegally imported bush tucker and he will probably claim it was a piece of organic bone.

Thos, my commiserations. I could feel it

Last time I cracked a piece off a tooth was on a bit of bone in a sausage but the noise inside your head is so loud that you would swear your whole jaw was broken. :0

Hope you soon feel well and able to chew again but more gingerly next time ;)

Sorry to hear of your painful ordeal Thos :(

I went through a similar thing when I was around 14 years old, I stupidly bit through a stick of Blackpool rock which also caused a back molar to be completely cracked down the middle.

I was in agony and screaming with pain.

Fortunately, I didn't have to wait to get back home to see a dentist as my parents took me to a local Hospital and after a short wait, I had it extracted there and then under local anaesthetic.

I haven't touched a stick of rock since!

Thank you all for your commiserations. In my misery, they really helped.

I did think, catgate, of "going after" the meat seller. In fact it was a reputable farm, selling it's produce directly to the public and probably proud of it's sausages and burgers. I think, though I am not sure, that it was from Yorkshire farmland, and possibly never seen "an illigal immigrant" However, I am not a believer in haphazard litigation and now it is all over, I can't be bovvered.

Andsome. I hope you enjoy the "glass or two" on my behalf. You won't enjoy them nearly as much as I will on Sunday when I shall open my first bottle for over a week.

Never mind all this organic meat nonsense..........tell the truth..........you cracked it watching England play Portugal!!!!! All that tooth grinding doesn't help does it? You'd be far better employed watching the ancient chinese art of Carp Pedicure Techniques For The Terminally Bored! And dare I say it.......far more soothing to the spirit than watching young Rooney putting a sudden and rather abrupt end to a certain Portugal defender's lovelife!!!

Oh yeah!

I had my mouth open most of the time watching that match wondering why Sven didn't tell his men which end of the pitch to attack.
