Lamb Chop Posted November 16, 2006 Report Share Posted November 16, 2006 I have now got IE7 courtesy of manual updates as auto didnt arrive.Anyway - not sure I like it but will plow on.One thing that is annoying me is that it has a new feature that not only deletes temp files etc but alsomy login cookies that I want to keep. Someone didnt think now did they B) Cant find a way to stop it, never used the old one to delete anything as I use crap cleaner after every surf session and it keeps my wanted cookies. Seem to think I had before but on downloading new one got back on.Getting used to 7 - but still have to go find things that were to my mind in the right place before right on the bar.Now all over the blooming place. PS I have this window flash on and off - what is it when I go to a site.also what is this HOSTS thing that keeps asking me do I want to add etc???? Seem to think I had before but on downloading new one got back on.There is a lot of controversy about that specific CCleaner feature. There are people all over the Internet writing blogs and articles denouncing CCleaner for allowing this.However, CCleaner only cleans out items that have not be used for 90 days or longer. I think this is not bad.Windows has its own cleaning mechanism of the Prefetch folder. When the folder contents exceeds a certain number of files (I believe it is 256), then Windows just deletes half of them, regardless when they have been used last. I think this method is stupid!What method do I recommend? I can't say, but I have the thing checked, and I will leave it that way.P.S. I have heard of people who manually delete the entire contents of their Prefetch folder. That, of course, is the most stupid thing to do! It is OK when I remember to use it, but I have always been able to have multiple windows in IE 6 by using the start button. Why is it that FF users adopt this superior than thou attitude? AlanHo Posted November 17, 2006 Report Share Posted November 17, 2006 I use both FF and IE7 and can see some merits in both.I believe that if you have been using the FF version of tabbed browsing for a while - you have become used to its behaviour and perhaps set in your ways. Hence IE7 seems strange.I am sure the converse would apply.Although I use both browsers - I find I use IE7 more and more - it seems to me to be far more user friendly.
