andsome
No hangover. I stopped making a fool of myself with booze many many years ago. I enjoy what I have, and feel well afterwards. just a wee bit tired this morning after a rather late night. :D
AlanHo
Not me I can see clearly now the smoke has gone..........but it will be so hard now I have none :(Do keep up the good work - I used to be a professional smoker - up to 80 a day at one time. I tried nicotine patches, nicotine chewing gum, acupuncture, hypnosis (that was a real giggle), cigars and a pipe instead of cigarettes, cutting down slowly, new year's resolutions and witchcraft - none worked. Then one evening I suddenly made up my mind to quit - and I have never smoked since. That was 24 years ago and I am so happy I gave up when I did.You will not regret it and I wish you every success - because you're worth it...... However I do know it is real and it does take hard work and will power to give it up. Good luck, Pushkin, it is in your hands alone.Thos. Here, Here, Alan! I did the same just over 20 years ago. I can now smell cigarette smoke even if someone is smoking in the next street! So Pushkin, not only will you be able to see more clearly, you'll be able to smell more clearly. Good Luck!!
-pops-
- - and taste more clearly. Stick with it - you won't regret it.
andsome
Best thing I ever did was to pack in that dreadful weed. It's a pity that the government has made such a mess up of potential bans in public places. Things are a lot more straightforward in Ireland and Scotland. catgate
I smoked a pipe for forty years and gave up overnight, about a week before I went to have the little old mans plumbing operation (didn't want problems with anaesthetic). I still miss it, even after fifteen years, because I enjoyed every pipefull. The one thing that is wrong with all this legislation to stop smoking is that it is only the tip of the iceberg. There are more people die and/or are laid low with various illnesses through breathing in air that others have exhaled. The big difference is that because there is no odour to it no one thinks about it, but there must be millions of people suffering daily through, it in the "civilised" world. Watchful
Thanks everyone. andsome
Thanks everyone. I'm truly hoping for success this time but wish I could experience that same evening when some of you got the sudden urge to quit....and did Please let that happen to me I had a very bad cold at the time. I had a bad coughing fit and coughed flecks of blood. I was scared to death and threw all my fags away. After that, it was the easiest thing in the world NEVER to start again. In actual fact it was obviously just a very raw throat that caused it.Take each day at a time, and if the urge gets to be almost irresistible, just think NO, I will wait thirty minutes. By then the feeling may well have gone as you will be thinking of something else. If not, then wait another thirty minutes. If you have any fags left at present, don't keep them just in case you eventually want them. THROW them away this very minute. Save the amount that it is no longer costing you for a week or two, and treat yourself to something nice.
Watchful
Andsome - I had the very same experience as you a few years back and did quit after a chest x-ray proved to be alright but started again in a moment of weakness and it soon escalates. :
artist
24 years for me too. No good trying to cut down - just doesn't work!Used to smoke 30 a day - stopped totally. It was a struggle for a while but worth it.
joysness
It's been 26 years for me and I smoked 3 packs a day when I quit. It's the best thing I ever did for myself. As Artist said, it was difficult for a while but I chewed on plastic straws for awhile and that got me through :D My ex used Ziban and it worked for him. He really did not want to quit so it was too difficult for him to give it up on his own.He said the Ziban worked and he did not even crave a smoke.Best of luck Pushkin.Oh and Happy New Year, everyone. No hangover here, as I gave up drinking at the same time I quit smoking, but really tired thanks to no sleep because of noisy neighbors. :(

andsome
All the best. Why not try my suggestion. Don't just simply ignore the savings. Physically put the money saved every single day into a safe place, and see just how soon it mounts up to enable you to buy a treat. DO BUY it, don't just put the money into savings at this stage. You need the experience of a real treat coming out of all this.
