Alan2273 Posted May 27, 2008 Report Share Posted May 27, 2008 For ten years he was waiting in the wings, scheming and plotting to take over as prime minister.Tony made him hang on till he was ready to go, now Tony must have had foresight because since Gordon attained his prime ministerial post, everything that could have gone wrong has gone wrong.Could Tony foresee the poisoned chalice that Gordon would inherit and thought what a good time to take a peace envoys job with more money and expenses.Also decisions that Gordon made in his previous budgets have come back to haunt him, through global problems that no one could foresee.So spare a thought for a man who feels our pain while dreaming up new environmental taxes to hit us with. He removed the tax relief from pension fund earnings and lowered the value of pension plans by about 15%. In my case, I am getting several pounds per month less that i would have done otherwise. He can rot in hell as far as I am concerned. What a load of rubbish is touted about as him being the best chancellor ever. He was certainly the best at bringing in stealth taxes. I'll bet there has been some midnight oil burned trying to find a way. I suspect they were hoping to somehow manage to bring in some form of public funding for all parties, as a way of getting round this, before the balloon went up.
