catgate
What amazes me is where all the money went over the last decade as we certainly don't have improved public services (which was a manifesto promise) and our standards of living have lessened due to the soaring cost of living and increasing tax burden :(Much of it went on many hundreds of consultants and "specialists' cobbling together hifalutin schemes with high flying titles like "Flagship" this, "Stakeholder"that, "Sustainable" something else, all of which schemes were totally stillborn due to being ill conceived in the first place. Millions have been spent on chasing NHS IT projects, which like the various other "control" Databases and the ID card scheme, were largely the bastard offspring of the consultancy world, fed to St Tony in order to create lucrative contracts for themselves in attempting to achieve unachievable ends. Then of course there have been the astronomical costs of sending ill equipped soldiers to fight wars that were no business of the UK's.To this you can add all the things like the bonuses to the directors of Network Rail for a job badly done, and the subsidies to the rail operating companies,, the severance settlements to the failed health service Executives, the millions given to foreign dictators to prove that we are ruled by International Statesmen. Then of course there is the question of MP's and MEP's salaries and expenses, the gratuities and saleries and expenses of all the scores of Quangos that, like mushrooms, seem to spring up overnight in great profusion. All of this, and more, have benefited the taxpayer in a manner which has seldom been seen before.Of course the Olympics need no mention. If only we had a modern Cromwell. let's do it! :DAt least he isn't a war criminal as that's what I think Blair is by taking us into an illegal war (Iraq)How's it an illegal war? A referendum was "pledged" and a referendum we have not had, yet it is Ratified. Presumably he is the Rat.I am wondering how long it will be before the excrement hits the ventilator now. There are unfortunately far too many people in this country who are incapable of thinking for themselves. I respect anyones right to vote for whoever they choose to vote for. However, far too many still have the old fashioned outlook that says, "my father and mother voted labour, and so did their parents before them, it's labour for the working man and woman". They are incapable of sitting down and working out what is happening in this once great country of ours. Many don't even have a clue as to what their M.P's name is and what their views are on various topics, and they have no interest in finding out. All they are interested in is soap opera, reality TV, so called celebrities, booze and bingo.
