deuces wild
How is it on the other side of the pond?Here........it sucks. Stock market down, layoffs, high unemployment. Do not want to turn on or read the news anymore.
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Over here (over the other pond) it has been bad for a decade or more. However, recently it has gotten a lot of press because it has gone worldwide, which now affects our exports, which makes it even worse than before. And with all the press it is getting, people are spending less and less, which - of course - makes it worse again!

andsome
This is how we reward FAILED bankers over here, or should that read FAILED wankers?Click hereThis is what he oversaw.Unemployment is rocketing, and the so called government haven't a clue as to the best form of action. Once good companies are going bust on a daily basis, while Nero Brown and Darling fiddle. We have pumped billions into the banks that are still paying obscene bonuses and pensions, and yet a damned good small van company is about to go under because it is in desperate need of a LOAN of 25 million pounds. Gandalph
The Royal Bank of Scotland has just announced loses of £24 Billion. The fella behind it has retired on £650.000 per annum. Tanks for pointing that out.

andsome
The irresponsible ones should have been taken over completely and ALL bonus's and pension payouts stopped. El Gordo is issuing all sorts of legal threats against his former friend with the obscene pension plan, but will probably get nowhere in court. Tankus
It hasn't really started yetbig price rises are working their way through the system.... to hit by spring/summer..... caused buy the massive hike in raw materials and fuel costs from the end of last year , coupled with the plummeting pound (20%fall yoy) ramping up imports ...there is going to be civil unrest not seen since the 70's in the UK . Summer going into autumn Saying that though ...if your jobs safe and you've owned your house 10 years or more (on a tracker) its not to bad ...although the exchange rate is pants for the odd French weekend ........hehI'm sort of expecting redundancy to hit by the summer , Last christmas I thought that I would be out by march ...so I'm still hanging on ...every payday is a bonus for me Fred the shreds answer is easy , concerning his pension , just say that he will take exactly the same percentage cut as Gordo and Dharrrlings ! He only lost £25bn ...what the hell has Gordo racked up so far ? £100's bn's .? percentage should be pro rata ................... I think that trillion is gordos new pet word ........ Like Global , US sub prime , etc .... Freds pension is just a smokescreen for the real damage done ...a drop in the ocean !make the number big enough......... people cannot get their heads around them ..... catgate
What astounds me about the current mess is why it has been allowed to happen. I am but a simple Yorkshire lad, but the way the world was heading has been apparent to me for many years. A few years ago, in answer to a topic of the time, I posted a link on WF to something I had put up on the net just before Toady Bliar came into office, and which has had just one or two small additions as the persona changed. It was ridiculed by certain people, but what was predicted is now happening.I had hoped I would be gone before it came to pass. :( Here is a link to the "money" bit:-http://www.angelfire.com/realm3/accord/montrick.htm

andsome
We need to get back to basics with lending, especially mortgages. Tankus
nope...... wasn't claustrophobia that I was feeling last night ..hit the wine and beer reserves ......not a good idea ,after a bad day at work to have a glass or few ,then post is the early hours after a serious stock depletion ...... I should know ...just looking at my cupboard ....innit I was in Wales for part of the miners strike in the 80's during the holidays (I was a hairy student ) my local was a miners pub , it was shocking , the division that I was seeing , utter hatred of the government and police ...and the hardship ....just hitting a very localized part of the community , other people immune ....Ive got a feeling this is going to be much worse and more wide spread .... Its the hatred of the government and police which is the most worrying , its nowhere near that level yet ...but ......
