AlanHo Posted May 17, 2009 Report Share Posted May 17, 2009 Just a few lines to let my regular fans here know that our wedding yesterday was absolutely perfect. The hotel where the ceremony and reception was held did a magnificent job and our 65 guests seemed to have had a splendid time. Even the weather behaved itself for us - there were heavy rain showers between spells of lovely sunshine but it was timed to perfection with the rain falling only whilst indoors activities took place.The marriage ceremony was at 11.30 am followed by a luncheon and reception party until 5:00 pm. We decided not to have the usual evening disco but had organised our favourite saxophonist to play at the reception for about 45 minutes. As it happened, he appeared on the TV show "Britain's Got Talent" a few weeks ago and was voted into the next round - having got the whole of the audience to its feet. We have known him for a few years as a very talented musician who performs in clubs and restaurants around the Midlands - but this was his big break - and one he thoroughly deserves. We had booked him way before he was involved with the TV show - but his success created a complication because it was touch and go whether a contractual arrangement imposed by the show's producers would prevent him from performing at our wedding. As it happened he was granted permission and he delighted our guests with a superb and emotional performance.Click here to see his performanceIn keeping with my reputation - I made a bridegroom's speech that was a little different. It may just amuse you -as it did our guests. To help you put into context some of the speech - my wife is called Libby (Elizabeth). She has three married daughters (and 6 grand-children) whose husbands are all avid Birmingham City football fans and season ticket holders. I am truly fortunate in that they have all so warmly welcomed me into the family and I now have 3 extra children and 6 extra grand-children.
