Irene
I intend to buy a new keyboard and mouse. Having just browsed for them, I didn't see any which said that they were Windows 7 compatible. .... What do you think? BTW: I ordered my Windows 7 yesterday. I finally decided on the Home Premium Full version. We looked in PC World as a starter - they were charging £102 something.Later at home I did an internet search and the best I found was at £87.38 which included vat & delivery. :D
Alan2273
Any USB keyboard will automatically be detected, so no worries there.Don't make the mistake I made though, I brought a new Logitech comfort keyboard and there was no gap between the keys, and with my fat fingers it was awful to type without catching the other keys at the same time.I replaced it with this and what a difference.http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?h...IwAA#ps-sellers

Alan2273
how to put a DVD into the playerSimple as that? Yes as long as your BIOS is set to boot from CD/DVD first. One thing I came across installing W7, is on the one computer it took 7 minutes to go from the start screen to actually starting the install, this baffled me at first but the answer was on Google. The second one I installed went straight from the start screen to the start of the install, so when you start if it seems to be hanging at the start screen go and have a coffee, or something stronger, and let it do its thing. artist
In preparation for the delivery of my new PC and Windows 7....I have never installed an operating system before. :0 What do I need to know? You are far more technically knowledgable than me! - and I managed to set up my laptop. I am quietly confident that with the help from the forum, if needed, I'll be ok.You will definately be fine! :D
andsome
Windows 7 is the easiest and most straight forward operating system, yet to install. When installed however, you will find that some things are very different to XP. I was annoyed that Windows Explorer seemed to show very little. You need to open it and look for ORGANISE, click on this and click whatever viewing options you are happy with. At first it showed virtually nothing, now it shows all my drives, documents and other folders, same as XP. Look in Control Panel and see the various display themes available. It is easy to customise. :D

Alan2273
When you put the DVD in the player if it boots from it, the CD/DVD, then it is set as first boot.If not then you need to enter the BIOS and set it.This is easy to do.At the first screen it will tell you (down the bottom of the screen normally), how to enter the BIOS, it is normally pressing the Delete key, then using the left and right arrow keys, go across the top menus to Boot and press enter, select the top line and if it is set to HDD then hit enter and using the up and down arrow keys select CD/DVD, then press F10 and enter and that is all there is to it. Irene
UPDATE....I've done it!!! :D I am now using my new PC - must change the spec in my profile - Windows 7 is looking good. Office 2007 is installed and Outlook is doing just fine - all email addresses working perfectly!Still need to copy my docs from old PC....Next question - Is it possible to use a laptop as a VDU for my old PC? Otherwise it means I need to undo all of my neat and tidy cablework to the new one. :
