How to attract new members

One of the things that occurred to me is the severe shortage of Laydees contributing to the forum, with the honourable exception of Irene we're at an all time low. After a promising start even Morty seems to have given up on us.

So what is causing it ? Is it perhaps the look, while I like it it's a rather Spartan Bauhaus theme all straight lines and blocks, would a softer style skin option offer a more female friendly environment ? Smoothed out corners, flowery backgrounds and many many pictures of cute fluffy kittens. (can't have enough kittens).

I did briefly consider posting links to more hip current music acts to be dahn wiv da yoof init but after a brief moment contemplating Bieber at al decided that some prices were too high to pay and will leave that particular variety of self abuse to somebody else.

I'm genuinely interested, is it that we're creaky old reprobates hanging on to an obsolete medium for grim death while the girlies being less fusty have embraced Faceache and Twaddle ?

:uhm:

Personally, I think that newcomers are possibly put off by the slowness of the forum. We are obviously a patient lot. I wonder how much it would cost us to offer a small contribution each to encourage Craig to have the software updated. Perhaps we could be advised as to the viability of this.

The forum is not some sort of race meeting. It is a place for exchanging information, learning of the latest "improvements" in Personal Computer  land", helping others with the inevitable quirks that abound with P.C,s etc. and having a chuckle and sharing it.
