When I was a kid I was football mad, and never missed a week at The Hawthorns, reserves one week, first team the next. Football now has been hijacked by MONEY. So many players will stop at nothing to win. Fouls have got more and more cynical, and it doesn't matter if you risk putting an opponent in hospital as long as you stop him. If I see a game in the park, I will stop and watch that of course, they are playing because they still love the game, and are playing for sheer enjoyment with NO financial gain to spoil things. ranger Posted April 8, 2004 Report Share Posted April 8, 2004 I work in a sports complex so I see all kinds of sport , some of these sports include, American football, Rugby, La Crosse, Hockey, Gaelic Football, Shinty as well as some obscure sports like frisbee throwing (yes, seemingly it's now a sport).As we have some of the best facilities around we have all sorts of levels using them from children to amatuer and then on to professional clubs using it for games and training, for example in the professionals, we have had the Scottish Claymores (American Football) Glasgow Hawks (Rugby) a International between America and Scotland at La Crosse, and in football (Soccer), Rangers, Celtic, Kilmarnock, Newcastle, Ajax, Napoli, Portsmouth, Oxford, Carslisle, Red Star belgrade, Iceland International team and the Faroe Islands just to name some. When I have had the time I have stood and watched the training/games in all these sports and have to say that the only one that gave me a buzz is the football (soccer), each one has it's merits (ecept frisbee throwing IMHO) but not one of them come close to football for skill and the sheer enjoyment of seeing a great move ending in a goal, or superb save even, yes football has some problems and Prima Donnas at the moment, but it's still the best sport around, obviously this is only my opinion and i'm sure people see the same thing in their chosen sport , although I say, YOU'RE WRONG!
