No. It can be quite busy at times but if you move away for a short while then come back in to the forum it can look as though nothing is happening.

I had this problem last year until it was pointed out to me to click on the link at the bottom of the page named "Last click" this will show you which thread the forum users are currently looking at.

You also need to click on the title headings as these move about quite a bit as new threads are started. So for instance you may see a users name under a heading at 2pm and come back at 6pm see the same heading and same name, assume that nothing has moved. Open the thread though and you may find that a dozen or more people have made post to that thread and just because the last person to post is the same as the one at 2pm it looks as though the thread has not had any replies or moved along.

Hope this make sense to you because on reading it I've confused myself!

It is a bit quiet tonight Milt but not always like this. Welcome to the forum by the way, stick around and you will see it can be a good place to hang out with lots of nice people always willing to help and good humoured as well.

Thanks for yoyour welcome DJohn but I've been watching for several nights before registering and this seems like a typical night. I might give it another chance but the acrimony I've seen belies your comments of "good humoured".

It will be a shame if you don't stay a little longer Milt. I can assure you the forum is much better than your first impression has been. This past few days have been a little trying for some members as you've noticed.

Your comment though may just be whats needed, members sometimes forget that guest and potential new members are watching how we behave. :(

as with any group there is always the occasional disagreement between members, you've caught us at one of those times it is happening :( :( , but don't let it put you off.

You've seen us at our worst, it can only get better !

As the old saying goes "we shouldn't wash our dirty linen in public"

Surely there are little disagreements on the other forums too? Also there always seems to ONE who wants to kick up a fuss over not very much..........

This is normally a friendly happy sort of place, I find.

Don't take the banter too seriously milt. :D

If that is what is called "friendly banter" then stuff it.

Some of us, me for one, come here with a more serious intent. I have little or no time for the rants of some of the membership, whatever euphemism they apply to them (banter?).

As has been said, there have been some changes to the forum in the past week or so which were disliked by some old and previously respected members and this has engendered some disquiet. The best thing to do is ignore it and get on with the more important aspects of life (and the forum).

Remember that a forum is what we, the membership, make it. If you are not happy with the way things are, the remedy may be with you:-

1. You could go away and forget about Windows Forum. As your profile states you're a Linux user, perhaps a forum devoted to that O/S may suit you better.

2. You could make some useful contributions rather than continually whinge about how awful this forum is.
