Has anyone else learnt another language? Or is currently learning one at the moment?

I've always been fascinated by Russian, So today, i'm beginning my Russian lessons!!! Not the easiest language, but once you get your head around the basics it's supposed to be fairly straight forward!

I've also found some excellent sites which will back up my learning.

always fancied learning the Italian language.......one of these days, maybe.

Thats what I always kept saying - kept putting it off, but then I saw Russian classes advertised and just signed up....it's something i've always wanted to do - and who knows, in a couple of years time I could speak fluent Russian!

I worked in the South of France for a number of years. It was difficult learning French because all the "natives" were so keen to practice their English.

I recall in my early days there sitting at a seafood restaurant on the promenade in Cannes and ordering my food in my best (new) French. The waiter was a Scouser. :D

Eight months of my national service was in Germany. It was a waste of time trying to speak German as they all wanted to practise English, besides which their English was rather better than my German. 'Er indoors and me tried to learn Dutch a long time ago. The teacher said after a few weeks that we did not speak good enough English to learn Dutch. About ten years ago we tried to learn German. We got through the early stages remarkably well, but fell over completely when we started to learn separable verbs. We gave it up as a bad job, and I learnt to play bowls instead.

I can speak English and American.

I never knew anyone who could do that before

American language is the corrected version of English. :P

But I love how the British pronounce aluminum and garage.

BTW: I hope you know I am not putting you down. Here in the states upscale car dealers and others use announcers with British accents in their commercials to make their product sound special and upscale. Your accent is indeed remarkable and quite easy on the ears. ;)
