Or is currently learning one at the moment?I've always been fascinated by Russian, So today, i'm beginning my Russian lessons!!! It was difficult learning French because all the "natives" were so keen to practice their English.I recall in my early days there sitting at a seafood restaurant on the promenade in Cannes and ordering my food in my best (new) French. It was a waste of time trying to speak German as they all wanted to practise English, besides which their English was rather better than my German. 'Er indoors and me tried to learn Dutch a long time ago. The teacher said after a few weeks that we did not speak good enough English to learn Dutch. About ten years ago we tried to learn German. We got through the early stages remarkably well, but fell over completely when we started to learn separable verbs. We gave it up as a bad job, and I learnt to play bowls instead. Here in the states upscale car dealers and others use announcers with British accents in their commercials to make their product sound special and upscale.
