The films (seen the first 2 so far) really don't do it justice.Anyway, back on topic. I've never read any Harry Potter at all, not really interested in it. I'm just commenting on the fact that there is some huge publicity machine in operation for her to obtain such a high worldwide profile. Amazing how profits generate corporate interest, where talent may not.Proud to say I have never read a Harry Potter book and think that people that buy the adult version with the more expensive looking non kid friendly covers are really sad. There must have been very heavy lobbying of all the media sources to be able to generate so much hype. korgg Posted July 16, 2005 Report Share Posted July 16, 2005 I didn't read Harry Potter book .. Nor, Lord of the rings ... But Harry Potter movie (at least the first two) were exceptional.. If the movie was so good, the book can't be so different... LOTR is a movie that I avoided as much as I could.. LOTR is too much overrated... And I have the vague impression that it destroied the story... I try to look at the first movie and I listen to the intro... It made me sick... They took the story and they messed it ..Well they had to really, the LOTR book plot lines don't run chronologically, so they had to do some juggling. I will always prefer the books, but reckon that the uncut versions are probably as close as you can get.Some of the edits on the standard versions are a bit hard to swallow, I mean cutting out Saruman and the Ents at Isengard ? That's not editing, that's hacking out the resolution to a pretty major plot line.The question is what fantasy classic comes next, presumably Harry Potter can continue right up to "Harry Potters adventures at the bide a wee home for retired wizards." but there must be other classics that could make a great movie. Suggestions please ( The Hobbit doesn't count as I'm fairly sure that's already in the pipeline. ) Anne McCaffreys Dragon books could be good, as could most of David Eddings sagas, The Malloreon in particular.
