So what is it?

I love all types/genres of music.

My favorite may be 'Lady' by Kenny Rogers....the bride/groom dance song at our wedding in 1982.

Others include Enya 'Only Time', Sheryl Crow 'If it makes you happy", Momas and the Papas 'Creque Alley', Sinead O'Conner 'If it makes you happy', Bee Gees 'How deep is your love' and the Bealtes 'There are places I remember'.

I could go on and on.................. :P

favourite song eh...

Off the top of my head...

Don't Call Me White - NOFX

"Don't Call Me White"

Don't call me white, Don't call me white

Don't call me white, Don't call me white

The connotations wearing my nerves thin

Could it be semantics generating the mess we're in?

I understand that language breeds stereotype

But what's the explanation for the malice, for the spite?

Don't call me white, Don't call me white

Don't call me white, Don't call me white

I wasn't brought here, I was born

Circumsized, categorized, allegiance sworn,

Does this mean I have to take such s***

For being fairskinned? No!

I ain't a part of no conspiracy,

I'm just you're average Joe.

Don't call me white, Don't call me white

Don't call me white, Don't call me white

Represents everything I hate,

The soap shoved in the mouth to cleanse the mind

The vast majority of sheep

A buttoned collar, starched and bleached

Constricting veins, the blood flow to the brain slows

They're so f***in' ordinary white

Don't call me white, Don't call me white

Don't call me white, Don't call me white

We're better off this way

Say what you're gonna say

So go ahead and label me

An a**hole cause I can

Accept responsibility, for what I've done

But not for who I am best line of any song ever!!!

Don't call me white, Don't call me white

Don't call me white, Don't call me white

Don't call me white, Don't call me white

And Heart of Gold by Neil Young

'Help Save the Youth of America' by Billy Bragg.

Help save the youth of America

Help save them from themselves

Help save the sun-tanned surfer boys

And the Californian girls

When the lights go out in the rest of the World

What do our cousins say

They're playing in the sun and having fun, fun, fun

Till Daddy takes the gun away

From the Big Church to the Big River

And out to the Shining Sea

This is the Land of Opportunity

And there's a Monkey Trial on TV

A nation with their freezers full

Are dancing in their seats

While outside another nation

Is sleeping in the streets

Don't tell me the old, old story

Tell me the truth this time

Is the Man in the Mask or the Indian

An enemy or a friend of mine

Help save the youth of America

Help save the youth of the world

Help save the boys in uniform

Their mothers and their faithful girls

Listen to the voice of the soldier

Down in the killing zone

Talking about the cost of living

And the price of bringing him home

They're already shipping the body bags

Down by the Rio Grande

But you can fight for democracy at home

And not in some foreign land

And the fate of the great United States

Is entwined in the fate of us all

And the incident at Tschernobyl proves

The world we live in is very small

And the cities of Europe have burned before

And they may yet burn again

And if they do I hope you understand

That Washington will burn with them

Omaha will burn with them

Los Alamos will burn with them

The aria sung by The Queen of the Night at the end of Act 1 of Die Zauberflöte (W A Mozart).

or

The aria from Puccini's unfinished opera Turandot. This is the same opera that Nessun Dorma comes from but it is totally different in character. The singer preferably is Eva Turner. Puccini died from lung cancer (result from excessive smoking) before he could finish the opera.

Song: "Layla" by Derek & the Dominos.

Music: "Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini" by Rachmaninov.

The last bit of the former and most of the latter can have a significant effect on changing one's mood.

If you want something more contemporary try anything from Bruce Springsteen's "Devils & Dust" album, stunning :serenade: :serenade: :serenade:

Funny when you read the posts it jogs your memory to songs you like.

I also like " Nothing compares to you "

Georgia by Ray Charles

Like a prayer by Madonna

And loads more, too many to list, I like blues and soul best, but enjoy jazz groove, some opera, in fact most music except the beatles, well overated, but I like some of the cover versions by Ray Charles.

A favorite that brings back great college memories about a sweetheart I was dating ----"Color my world" by Chicago. (Don't tell my wife. )

I am not a great fan of Dylan but how can you beat "Hurricane"?

I also like Neil Young "Southern Man".

I guess it is really tough to name just one time all time favorite song.

I must be an oddity because I like much of Andrew Lloyd Webber's early stuff. Some of music in The Phantom is superb. Music of the Night and The Phantom of the Opera, I can listen to over and over again.

Also Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge over Troubled Water is high on my list.
