Another attack on free speech

If the god of islam is offended by all this cartoon business why has he not had a quick word with the god of christianity and the god of atheism and told them to sort it out. Surely they are more powerful and better able to deal with the matter than a few masked gunmen fired up with warped misdirected zeal.

The only response by Islam to anything they do not like, understand or disagree with is to respond with Violence or threats of Violence.

They mostly appear to be a lot of Intolerant Savages

Edit : -

However I know there are at least some exceptions.

the god of atheism

Is this possible ?

Why not? Every other form of commonsense and logic appears to have been ignored.

#

1. Disbelief in or denial of the existence of God or gods.

2. The doctrine that there is no God or gods.

I think your stretching it a bit

I wonder why the exceptions don't shout a bit louder to make their voices heard above the noise of the bombs and gunfire of their fellows.

However France Soir owner Raymond Lakah, a French Egyptian, said in a statement to AFP news agency that he "decided to remove Jacques Lefranc as managing director of the publication as a powerful sign of respect for the intimate beliefs and convictions of every individual".

Hmm "respect for the intimate beliefs and convictions of every individual" but only as long as Mr Laker agrees with them, presumably this doesn't apply to infidels. Jacques Lefranc is definitely not counted as "every individual".

Now I don't agree with the printing of the cartoons, but this roll over play dead approach by the media to extremist Islamic sensibilities is worse.

I think its a bit harsh to call a few militant groups the "majority". I dont condone the threats or the cartoons but it seems narrow minded to start labbeling the majority is islamic people as "intolerant savages". If you look at the atrocites commited by christianity in the past the west are still streets ahead in terms of savagery.

There is rather a lot of the 'few militant groups' over the last decade or so whilst the might be in the minority, the 'Majority' are very silent so as to be almost none existant.

Also the muslims do not appear to concurr with the maxim of "When in Rome do as the Romas do" when they are in western countries or even elsewhere. They however expect the west to follow this maxim.

( Yes I know that this is a western maxim but it should hold true for all.)

Historically there is not much to choose from either of them in terms of savagery.

The crux of the matter is that the Islam preached by Mohhamed and the religion preached by Jesus Christ were against killing or cruelty of any kind. It is only the subsequent distortion of these tenets, by power seeking clerics and rulers (...but then what are clerics but rulers) that has made the slaughter of enemies "acceptable".

I have always been fascinated by the question why this powerful omnipresent GOD, who is said to be totally aware of all out individual actions, and who can wipe out humanity with one stroke, should he wish to do so, needs muslim clerics to pronounce a fatwa to kill someone like Salman Rushdi, when GOD can do it himself, if he wishes it to be done.

However that does not seem to be the case....does it?

I've had my full say before on religion. I think it is ALL bad. Everyone is entitled to believe in and worship a God. No one however has the right to persecute and kill those who have different beliefs, or believe in a different God, or call their God by a different name. Men in funny hats and frocks telling everyone else how to live. Unmarried men who are denied relationships with women, advising those same women on birth control. The mind boggles as to why anyone lets narrow minded bigots run their lives for them. Have your own beliefs, and leave others to theirs, for pity's sake we don't need any more wars and troubles.

Im not about to argue with you but if you truly beleive that the majority of Muslims are Savages your a fool to be perfectly honest. I have a number of Muslim collegues I work with and I can promise you they do not condone or support the actions of Islamic Militant groups. Do the actions of a peacefull British citizen leading his daily life sell news papers? Ofcourse not, perhaps that is why you dont read about the savage day to day lives of Muslims who do not preach terrorism.

Islam is the 3rd largest religion in the world and that is only if you make a distinction between roman catholic and church of England Christian faiths, that alone should help to put these incedents in perspective. I could go on to mention the illegitimacy of the war in Iraq, Afghanistan and other actions taken by Mr Bush and his Lap dog Mr Blair but its not really the issue.

I have said my peice and wont be visiting this topic again as to be perfectly honest its bordering on offensive in my opinion.
